Austin downtown overnight parking

Staying in JW Austin over the weekend. Their parking rates are an exorbitant $30/nt! I will not be driving in the city however, might need some access to it for a day trip nearby.

I looked online and it seems some garages don't allow overnite parking. Any suggestions would be much apprecited!

Thanks!

For a meeting downtown a few months ago, I used the St David's garage:

So long as there's nothing going on there (major services, weddings, etc.) it is a very viable alternative.
I had absolutely no issues, and $10 was a great price.

I'd offer that you could park at my house, but I live a distance away...without traffic about a half hour from downtown.
But let me know if you need help with anything else.

Appreciated aztimm! But 30mins might be too much of a haul for saving few bucks.

What is the metered parking scene in Austin? I see 12hr/18hr meters. Are they allowed for overnight parking? Any free street parking on weekends?

it's actually gotten better, i think streets in austin were metered until 0300 on fri and sat. there are ways to pay on your phone, look it up.

just find a garage nearby. it'll be cheaper. google maps, street view, etcetc

When I was in Austin for a meeting in November, Friday and Saturday nights, the parking meters were on till 01:00 am (or was it midnight?). Saturday morning, the meters were turned back on at 11:00 am.
