Airline forum list now finally works.

Flyertalk has been around for more than 10 years. For the past few weeks, you'd think Flyertalk was launched in early November, 2008.

Ugg. I'd hoped we'd have reverted by now.

I've alerted the techies to this thread.

when using both safari and firefox today, after i make a post, the page with my new post shows the first post at the top of that page as opposed to the bottom of the page where my new post is. had to scroll down to make sure my post took.
Yes, I noticed that too.

The motto seems to be: "If it ain't broke, we'll fix it. REAL good."
at least it wasn't just me but you're using a mac as i am, right?. i'd like to see if any pee-cee users are having the same problem with explorer and/or firefox.

It is happening to everyone but at least the forum navigation is working now.

Addresses have changed. While links still seem to work, it is not as easy to navigate to specific posts.

Icons have stopped displaying.

Quick reply and quick edit no longer working.

Navigate to an inputted page number option is gone.

Are these changes temporary or permanent? Hopefully only temporary.
The icons, quick reply and link error issues that existed this morning (and last night) should be fixed now. There were some settings conflicts that we did not anticipate but have fixed all of these problems. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

While the icons etc have been fixed, the new addresses cause extra work for mods and those who maintain FAQs.

It is harder to navigate.
It is not as easy to maintain links. Previously I could copy and paste into a post an address from the address bar and just edit the forum number, thread number, or post number. This no longer works.
Sometimes when editing a post I am thrown back to the first page of the thread instead of remaining on the page I was on.

The net effect is it is harder to work on the stuff I work on. Together with search problems that still aren't fixed after so many months, I sometimes wonder why I bother trying to be helpful.

A big thumbs down to the genius who decided to eff up the site as illustrated by all these comments. You should ask for a refund from whichever correspondence school you received your certification as evidently they did not cover "testing" in their curriculum.

The old URL method will still work. It just redirects automatically to the new URL format.

For example, this thread ...

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=898266

Will still work and auto redirect to this page.

Actually, as long as you have the ID in there, anything will work.

My first link was altered. What I was trying to type in my first example is this:

http:// www. flyertalk. com/ forum/ showthread.php? t=898266

Except all put together.

Is this "enhancement" of Flyertalk going to be fixed any time soon? The original forum address I was using http://www.flyertalk.com/forums/ still lists "Page not found" instead of a redirect which is probably leading some people to incorrectly think the forums are down.
