MileageAddict, thanks for your work in cleaning that up. Not an easy task, I'm sure.

Is there a way, other than PMing you or hitting the red triangle in each spam post, to "rally the troops" to get it taken care of? I guess I'm asking if there is anyone else (IB, Senior Mods, etc.) that I should contact once I learn of such a spam attack? What can we, as members, do to help?

I monitor this thread and during my morning "clean-up" review I will look for any reported Spam. If I see it and the offender is still active, I will ban them and work with the other mods on getting it cleaned up.

So, thank you to all who are posting here; it does help.

I've banned the IP addresses of the spammers of both MilesBuzz and Hotel Deals. Thank you so much for dealing with this.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Just to verify, this was a PM, not an e-mail?

Thank you. Now handled; you won't hear from this one again.

This is a good illustration of why FT puts PM limits on how many PMs per day can be sent out by new members. This person had zero posts, has all the earmarks of a scammer and was posting from a West African country known for such activities.

It seems they very active at night when the admins and mods are away. Wouldn't it be better to have some on duty at night? I realize spam is an everlasting problem, but I've never seen this level in my dozen years in FT.

Weheart is hitting a bunch of different fora: Travel Technology, Cruises, TravelBuzz,....

Uwug seems to prefer messing up the Hotel Deals forum.

I am wondering if there's a recent "improvement on spam technology" that helps this new wave of spam attack FT? Or perhaps our former infamous jpg spammer finally recruited his new army to test their new techniques on FT spam trap mechanism? It seems FT is vulnerable to either of the above approaches since they both get through the gate without setting off any alarm.

Nevertheless, my deepest sympathy to our MOD Squad, & thanks for getting the job done quickly!

Do the mods who volunteer for this get double overtime pay?

(For those who may not know, all FT Moderators are strictly volunteers; no remuneration is given.)
