Can't type www.blah.com in a post without creating a link
I tried to type www.nameofattacksite.com within a post as an example of a link that should not be clicked on. But FT won't let me include text that looks like a URL without creating a -url- tag (square brackets not dashes). How do you delete a -url- tag in a post without having it automatically restored?

Put it between
Code:
www.horriblesite.org Or, you can create the url and just put spaces between the www. andthelink. com. |
or leave off the www.
nameofattacksite.com donotclickthislink.com clickhereforanastyvirus.com etc... |
another tip is to flank the url with noparse code
eg: when you insert [noparse]www.horriblesite.com[/noparse], it appears thus, www.horriblesite.com |
I happen to like Prospero's suggestion, but yet another option, often used to disguise e-mail addresses so they won't be harvested by bots, is to write:
www [dot] name_of_site [dot] com |
