Could be that down the line the service will need to be refreshed to deal with new ads or sites, or that I'll somehow get a message about options for additional services for which I'd pay. But as best as I and my tech-savvy stepson could tell, it's simply a free, one-click service.

For the IT folks at FT, thanks for the great non-responses! In and of itself, a good reason to start going to other sites for travel info and discussions.
Can you please post the link? I'd like to give that a try!

I just chatted with Dick and they have yet to be able to replicate this error. I am on a Mac as well using Firefox and am also not seeing the error. All of which leads me to wonder if this might be being caused by a conflict with a Firefox plugin of some sort. Perhaps as a troubleshooting exercise one (or more) of you could try disabling your plugins one at a time and see if the problem resolves. At the very least, it might help narrow down the list of potential causes.

For ....... Plus itself, the link is:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

For the filter, the link is:

http://easylist.adblockplus.org/

Hope it helps!

Try this page. You should be able to see the problem at hand, with or without sign-in.

Using Firefox and ....... Plus, I am seeing this WIDE screen problem in various fora on FT. There's no other plugin in my Firefox.

One thing I can't figure out yet is the 1st page of this very thread. Without sign-in, this page is the poster page for the "wide screen" problem. The problem goes away when I log in though.

I am very surprised IB and IT folks can't replicate this "abnormality."

ETA:
This page shows the same problem as well.

You are very welcome!

I can't find more examples at this moment. However, I am sure if you guys need more sample pages, our fellow FTers can shoot your guys dozens more at no time.

It is really a "growing" problem in the past week. Just see how many threads or posts on this problem got started since 10/14/09.

BTW, I am not FT Premium.

Mikel,

As another reference point, I have the ad free FT experience and cannot see the problem.

However, if I log out, then I get the same images others are complaining about.

I am running on Microsoft Windows.... Vista at home and Windows 6.0 at work.

Could we please have a response from technical support on what Flyertalk's plans are to stop the pages from expanding horizontally so they're unreadable, with the addition of a lot of gobbledygook computer code thrown in?

Thanks....this is a very serious issue that does no favors to advertisers.

Unless one is experiencing this, you cannot imagine how annoying it is, and impossible to navigate thru FT. I don't have this problem with any other site.

It cropped up for the first time for me today but not in every thread I opened. I'm using Windows and IE. And it's annoying!
