+1

I rather see threads that are truly buzzworthy filled up MilesBuzz Forum.

Now that there is a credit card forum, all discussion of credit card offers and programs should be posted there.

Thank you!
Most stuff on FT is related to miles so we have dedicated forums where CC topics belong.

As FT continues to evolve & grow you will see more forums added. This is a good thing. Will some forums become less "interesting"? Maybe. But it doesn't serve anyone well to have large "catch-all" forums, IMO.
How are you defining when the "buzz has worn off"? Who decides? I tend to think stupidzbu has it right. If it's not the run-of-the-mill, everyday offer level, it should stay in MB (whether it's a CC offer, or anything else).

"catch all" forums? Well, if by that you mean a dumping ground for a hodgepodge of loosely related topics - no! But a place to find the latest unusually good offers/deals? Yes!

Otherwise, folks will just migrate more and more to the blogs where it's quite easy to find out right away the blogger's list of the latest buzz - and you can usually sign up for the horribly named "amazing deal alerts", etc.

people come here for great offers & churning. Newbies provide valuable insight

Let me give you specific examples:

AA 75k & current 50k

Churners & newbies discovered the death to 2BM, but also discovered that you can still get ~130k AA miles through the MC card.

This thread was once moved to the AA forum when the 75k offer died for discussion, then reinstated here because people got mad. Now the 50k thread moved to the CC forum where most people argue about taxes, 5x points, and cash cards.

Boa/Boh 35k Cards

The buzz was the 70k miles --> 140k HH points. After the HH devaluation, that buzz wore off, but you know what? Churning 70k HA miles is still buzz worthy

So, I argue against your interpretation of what should be on MB

If it is a GREAT offer AND active that deals with hotel or airline points, it should stay here.

The CC forum is for people looking at TYP, MR, UR etc

Hell, I spent 45 minutes reading on how this guy spent 160K in 6 weeks and was blacklisted from Citi... none of that interests me because I am in it for the miles & hotel points

EDIT: and can I please get an idea of why these active threads on the first 2 pages are BUZZ worthy vs the CC threads that got moved?

How about a forum for newbie questions?

If you have no interest, easy to avoid.

Well said.

Why the nostalgia for the MB name headlining "the good stuff"? It's the same content in the other forums, only better organized.

As TB we welcome your suggestions for further rationalization of the organizational structure. An appeal to utility and ease of use will get you further than an appeal to nostalgia.

That's what UA Fan's thread was for, but...

UA Fan's thread was moved to Credit Card Programs. I'm not sure that was a good move.

I hope Internet Brands can some day figure out how to display the same thread in 2 forums. Until then, how about the following:

Mods could add one sticky in MilesBuzz for all the top deals, whether they are credit cards or anything else. The top deals will reside in a Wiki at the top of the thread. Anyone with 90 posts and 90 days can edit the Wiki and update it.

Presto: MilesBuzz is again one stop shopping, more convenient than ever!

For now we have created a sticky pointer to this thread at the top of MilesBuzz!

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credi...er-thread.html

There will still be credit card threads in MilesBuzz!, but they won't linger after the deal expires or the substance of the discussion changes. We have been moving credit card threads of out of MilesBuzz! for a few months, with only one negative reaction. Today's action is the final sweep, but it does not mean our work is done.

I have only been a member since Oct 2011 but I was a reader for four months before I joined. What did I read? MilesBuzz! That was the only forum I read and the only one I needed to read. EVERYTHING was there.

I find the current MB pretty much useless and spend much less time here since the topics I am interested in are EVERYWHERE.

I use to tell others interested in miles points to just read MB. I have no idea what to tell them now. My opinion is that MilesBuzz is pretty much useless compared the when I first joined

Agreed, MilesBuzz used to have all the best and most relevant deals. Now I have to search several sub forums to make sure I didn't miss out on anything.

This is a poor decision by the mods.

There have been differing ideas about what belongs in MilesBuzz from the
beginning.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...ht=buzzworthy]

I, for one, am glad to see the CC stuff gone, and hope we can return to
ideas getting miles from flying and using them.

Looks like a ploy to increase page views (ie: ad rates).

This is just one person's opinion, but I think MilesBuzz could benefit from a user editable Wiki stuck at or near the top of the forum. Just put it there and see what users do with it. I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised with the creativity of FT's users.

Yes, this requires that the sticky thread by open to posts, even though the real action will be in the Wiki. So be it. The posts can include, among other things, summary of a Wiki edit, request for someone to correct the Wiki, or random discussion that the mods might want to move to another thread.

The only way to see how it will work is to try.
