So this idea seems to get widespread acceptance, but lesser restrictions on mileage run forums are impossibly controversial (and passed then rejected then .....).

Isn't TB a mystery? I've given up!

As an ordinary FlyerTalker I applaud the open debate. I really hope you pass this quickly, as I have said before. I really do not care what happened before, we should all give that a rest, it is getting tiresome. Let us get on with life and improve FlyerTalk. This proposal will help do that.

I agree!

Now I need to get busy with a bunch of " +1 posts "

You might want to read the FT Guidelines & Rules :

Posting meaningless information in an effort to increase one's post count is not permitted. Posts will be removed and the post count reset. Members who engage in this are subject to disciplinary action.

Perhaps because he made the decision to remove the prior restriction (and the advisory TB saw the futility in challenging him on it)?

He did run the joint until a mere two months ago.

So? That didn't stop the TB from making a recommendation, did it? Randy was more than capable of ignoring it, but I see the TB as responsible to the general members of FT, not the owner or the FT host.

More like an enigma.

Why waste time on the big things when "trivial" things like abstentions can be debated to death?

Motion Passed: Restrict Access to OMNI and OMNI/PR

On 9 March 2011, the TalkBoard passed 8-1:

Moved by nsx and seconded by bhatnasx:
FlyerTalk members have expressed concerns about the lack of privacy of their posts on OMNI and OMNI/PR, including their accessibility to search bots and to suspended members. Members overwhelmingly prefer a more secure environment in which they will feel more free to speak.

The TalkBoard recommends that access to OMNI, OMNI/PR, and all future OMNI forums be restricted to logged-in members who have been members at least 180 days and whose post count is at least 180.
Voting yes: bhatnasx, Cholula, jackal, lucky9876coins, nsx, SkiAdcock, Spiff, UA_Flyer

Voting no: Markie

Has Internet Brands indicated how soon they can enact these changes?

In your discussions with Internet Brands before the vote, did they indicate there would be any problems implementing the change?

I believe that IB intends to routinely approve whatever we request unless and until we demonstrate that we have lost our minds.

The biggest constraint is that what we request needs to be within the capabilities of the current software.
