Knowing what I do not know and being willing to acknowledge that. My voice will be heard and I will take the lead on topics where I have constructive advice/suggestions/recommendations, but I will defer to other "experts" when my experience level dictates.

Ability to build consensus. I am proud that I was able to bring the TalkBoard together to resolve an issue that had failed to win a 2/3 majority in either direction for several years: that of how to count abstentions.
I gathered input from all the TB members and wrote a proposal that I thought had 6 votes. One of my 6 decided it wasn't quite good enough, but I was able to persuade two other TB members who had opposed earlier versions to support my proposal. It passed 7-2.
In a nutshell, under the old rules an abstention had exactly the same effect as a No vote. This meant that there was no way to vote Present without affecting the outcome of the vote. Once I explained this fact well, I got the necessary votes for this proposal, so we now count Abstain as Present rather than as No. A second aspect of the proposal requires 5 Yes votes, assuming that the TalkBoard is operating with its full 9 members. The old rules would have allowed a 2-1 vote to succeed if the other 6 members did not participate.

Well I can touch my nose with my tongue, it's usually a big hit at parties if we've all been drinking enough. In all seriousness, I like I will bring a youthful vigor and energy to the Talkboard. Flyertalk seems to be increasingly populated by younger types and at the tender age of 26, I can speak to that and provide empathy to their issues. I will be proud to represent that demographic.
He said "it's still the greatest story" I said man I'd love to stay. But I'm bound for glory...I'm on my way. My ride's here.

I’m running for TalkBoard because I believe I have something good to offer and after being a member of an incredible family for 7 years, it’s time to get off the bench and into the goal crease to do my part. I will be completely honest in saying that I do like to stir the pot and sometimes that is a good thing. I will not rubber stamp, nor vote along “party lines,” but rather I will look at all issues objectively and fairly. If I have one viewpoint, but someone can give me a valid (n.b. valid) argument to “vote the other way” that will be considered-I’m not saying I will vote that way, but I will listen to it objectively and then make my decision accordingly for what I think is best for Flyertalk as a whole.
Over-entitled 1k wondering how COdbaUA likes Flyertalk being its beta tester?

Since I've been a member for 7 years, but never served on TalkBoard before or as a moderator, I'll bring a different perspective: that of a general FlyerTalk member. I tend to have a unique perspective on things, am able to understand others' perspectives, respect their opinions, and consider how changes and new policies will affect members.

I feel that I will bring equality to the Talkboard. I will give undivided attention to every single topic that comes up. If I do not favor a topic that is coming to a vote, I will still look at both sides of the story and attempt to make an informed vote. Also, not to copy everyone else, I am also young.
Consensus Building is a quality I would bring to the board as well..
Its important to work well with those from different backgrounds and situations, to bring to a resolution issues at hand. As a Commercial Property landlord.. A landlord of Multi-Family Residential, and Single Family housing units.. and owner/lender of a Mortgage Company here in Calgary.. Consensus Building.. getting deals done, is pretty much my business. Putting out fires, is a regular part of the routine as well..
Aside from business, my family includes my wife and 2 small kids.. getting the kids to cooperate and keeping harmony in the house is a daily deal. Also, my experience as a current director of a not-for-profit and desire to serve, is consensus building experience I would bring onto the table..
I am also young but I guess that doesn't count for much now...
I like seeing change and am always willing to work forwards to achieve that change. I like seeing Flyertalk build up even more from its current status and each Talkboard proposal means that we are given an opportunity to move forward.
I bring the ability to handle conflict and work with others.
In my real life, I'm in a sales organization where I have to be able to quickly make my company's case to a group of people who are sometimes disinterested.
In my alter ego, I'm a sports official -- I referee HS and college baseball, basketball, and football. Being able to communicate with players, coaches, and administrators is a very important part of the job I've done over the last 25 years and I've learned that a key part of the job is to listen (REALLY listen) to what is said and accept that at times you may have to tell someone that you were wrong, that you made an incorrect call or decision.

Gosh, I thought *I* was the young one on FT! I'm only one year older than CMK10, though.
I will continue to bring a progressive mindset of continual improvement on FT. I'm never satisfied with the status quo, and if there's an opportunity to try to make FlyerTalk a better place, I'll support it.
