Question 20: Expand a Point or Have Changed Your Mind

This question submitted by Prospero:
Thank you to everyone who has thrown their hat in. I have a question for all candidates but it applies more to those who have either not yet been able to participate in the debates so far or perhaps have consciously chosen to opt out of this process.

Are there any points contained within your original manifesto that you wish to expand on or even change as a result of the debate?

First, my apologies for not posting sooner. I have been travelling in Singapore, Brussels and London (here now) and have had almost no free time to check in other than to perform moderation duties.

Having just posted today on these forums, I have to say I have not had an opportunity to even read in detail all the responses.

I would hope I would be open enough to be convinced to change my opinions if good arguments are made....

William

Hi
Well even though its not aimed at me, I might as well answer the questions as I have answered the other 19 , its also late, I have a 6.15am flight and I cant get to sleep (argggh).

I dont think at this point in time I would want to change anything that I have stated in my statement. I dont think its right for folk to change it halfway thru an election process as it would be too much like the real world where politicians might just change things in order to get votes so some of the newspapers have stated

Regards

After reading the good answers of other candidates, I now feel that there is no need for a minimum number of posts or time on FT before one runs for the TalkBoard.

Our voters should be able to determine who they want representing them on their own.

I'm slightly discouraged that the lack of participation in the debates after only being up for two days (two business days, I might add!) would be misinterpred as lack of interest or changing ones mind. (Me, well things are always crazy on Mondays and I get zero "surf" time and yesterday I spent 9 hours on flights back and forth the Bay Area.)

Now that I get the chance to post, no - nothing has changed. My desire to serve the community is as strong as ever - and I hope that the "speed" with which one replies to a post (and indeed, I wonder if some folks sleep with their laptops on the nightstand!) is not a gauge of level of interest or lack thereof!

I'm fortunate in that I've had a week of very intensive client work postponed and am lounging about in my home office with work on one monitor and FT on the other.

I hope the pace of questions slows for a couple of days, just so I have time to answer all of them thoughtfully as well as read up on my fellow candidates myself!

I haven't changed my mind about anything as yet - however, as we get more indepth into the discussions, that may change.

Right now the only thing is that I misinterperated one of the questions for the application. The 3 favorite forums, and would want to use the info below:

United Mileage Plus - Besides being a frequent flyer member of United, the support given from the individuals really make the flying the skies "friendly". Any questions, comments, or rumors go quickly answered, and any person needing advice or help also gets a quick answer, usually within minutes. There were times I was sitting in the airport, flight got changed and I was able to look up a resolution to my change, once before the agent could!

Travel Technology - I love this forum since it covers with all the technology. These days with the requirements each country has (from different voltage to mobile phone service) it is nice to be able to get a quick response if a product is worth buying, or how to make it work in a foreign country.

American Express Membership Rewards - I was unaware of all the options and promotions I missed out with my AMEX before I came across this forum. It was helpful to find about the lounges that I can use and the different promotions and users opinions to them.

There is nothing that I want to change, I have really just started to process it all. I think that my words are speaking for me, I hope to participate in open debating, but not sure that it is a format that is conducive to it all. I think other members will learn more about me from what I am saying in answer to the questions they are posing that seeing me in a debate.
