Too funny, especially since you admitted in your OP that the Lada's performed was better than the BMW's.

I don't care about brand name.
I do care about performace.

I have not tried DXB ZRH, or the other direction but I have to go to the UAE again and was looking at both Emireates (before they screwed me out of an Arabian Airpass which is another story in another thread) and Etihad...I see Etihad has some very inexpensive fares Geneva Abu Dhabi....Just wondering if you had tried that and your thoughts

I did that in one of the new "resting rooms" in the F lounge at ZHR (I had a connecting flight 2.5 hours later). Those rooms are a bit like cells in a drug rehabilitation clinic, but they're quite convenient. They set you up with a "bed" which basically consists of the same elements as the bed on board. So if you're tired enough (which I was after the sound and light show on board at 5am) you can get some more good quality sleep.

I think next time round, upon the greeting tour at the beginning of the flight I'll ask the MdC politely to be a bit more "discret" the next morning. But this time, they didn't even talk to me other than "computers are to be switched off now".

Thinking about it, I am lucky to have seen those Alpine creatures before going to sleep, as waking up with the sight of what looked like a Helvetic version of Darth Vader (grim and hairy faces, ear rings, bellowing voice, etc) would have frightened me to death and I would have hidden under my LX pillow and thrown La Prairie hand creme tubes from the amenity kit at them to make them stay away. But like this I realized that they were only out on a mission to shove coffee and Emmi yoghurts into half asleep bodies.

if six out of eight pax want to sleep, they should be more considerate. a full meal and IFE can also be enjoyed without screaming thru the cabin and full lights on!

Texas and Appenzell seem to be on the same wavelength when it comes to "being rustic".

I never said you shouldn't enjoy your IFE and meal. But I am sure you won't watch your movies with loudspeakers turned on but with a headphone (so that doesn't disturb anyone), and it's perfectly possible to enjoy your meal with the cabin light dimmed and just your seat being illuminated by the reading light above your head. There's no need for FAs to perform cart races along the aisles with the trolleys.

As I wrote, First Class service should be such that it accomodates both types of passengers, those that need to sleep and those that want to enjoy the service. I never said they shouldn't do any meal service or leave the cabin in the dark until landing.

SR and AA were partners for a reason.

"Good" to hear this hasn't changed.
Supports my decision to continue avoiding LX longhaul at any price... (been doing this for 2+ years now )

Another reason to fly Y like flysurfer . The crew doesn't kick you out off your comfy Y seat! and since the breakfast is normally just a box they can throw it at you.

[quote=creber;9328722]The cabin crew was a bunch of "rustic" middle-aged men who to tell by their accent came from some forelone valleys in Wallis respectively in Eastern Switzerland. ..QUOTE]

We (Swiss) are still a country of farmers - not so long ago in the 19th century Switzerland was among the poorest regions in Europe.

At least it is "service straight from the heart" with all its up and downsides.

If you want fake smiles and fake refinement may I suggest you try TG - but be aware: They might have problems understanding English .

I am often flying DXB and I donīt have your experience in F like you had. The F experience depends on the crew and this crew wasnīt good. On flying this route I avoid OS via VIE, because they flew a 737-800 with the old C class and LX and LH are my friends on this route.

Thanks for the info szg!

Precisely the reply I was looking for - I wanted to know whether I just had an "out-of-line" experience or whether the sound and light show was normal LX procedure.
