Try expertflyer.com - requires a subscription but nice!

Does anybody know when the old SWISS-SUN Seats were replaced by the new Recaro Seats? I am 1.92m tall and the SWISS-SUN seats are the worst seats I ever flew in, on my entire life. I don’t know why LX hasn't replaced this seats first, even the very old Swissair Seats have been a lot more comfortable.

F seating for couple

Can anyone tell me what is the best seating in LX F class when travelling with girlfriend? I know it is 1-2-1 seating, so is it best to take the 2 middle seats, or to take 2 window seats and then sit together at one seat for dinner?

Thanks a lot in advance!

If you don't mind for not sitting at the window, the best option is the middle-block.
If just one person wants to sit at the window, the best option is one window-and one middle-block-seat.
If both persons want to sit at the window, take two window-seats...

(I can't unfortunately give a more objective advise...).

You can for sure have all the meals at the same table and sit together for a while. Just keep in mind that the "ottomans" don't have seatbelts - in case of turbulence everybody has to sit on his assigned seat.

Re: the ottoman suggestion

On my latest Swiss flight I noticed the announcement "it is mandatory to keep the seatbelt fastened while seated", same policy as LH has implemented. This would mean that using the ottomans to sit down would now be prohibited, if there are no seatbelts?

Ottoman with seatbelts

At least on my (few) LX A340 flights early 2007 the ottomans in Row 1 DID have seatbelts (not sure about Row 2).

Hope that helps.

Edited: I forgot to congratulate you to post this thread - excellent !

That's no prob at all, all Ottomans in every row and aircraft (A330, A340) have seatbelts.

What are the best seats to take when travelling together (2 ppl) on the 3 class 332 in coach? I'm a UA*G, and would love to put myself in 28J and my friend in 28G. Unfortunately since i'm not a Senator, 28ABJK as well as 27EF are blocked. I could get myself into either 27D or G but that means my travelling partner will be at least one row back, if not more.

What would you do?

Which is your favourite C seat on LX A340?

I have sat in 5D and 4A in the last 12 months without knowing the front cabin was for top elites . The first time (5D) was an op-up so no chance to select a seat. The second time I was only FTL and didn't request any particular seat but managed to get into the mini-cabin again. I enjoyed the window seat (4A) for a change but didn't like having to climb over a stranger .

Now that I am SEN and can choose my seat I don't know which one to pick. I should probably go for one of the seats in the middle block. On expertflyer 4AB & 4JK are blocked (for HON/SEN?) but not 4DG. Does the footrest go into a cubby hole when the seat is fully reclined like in row 3 of LH A343? I don't think 4A did but I'm wondering about 4D or 4G.

What is row 6 like? The window seats (6A and 6K) are blocked but not the others. Does it have as much space in front of you as row 10 on LH A343?

Any comments welcome

Can't remember the exact setup, but if you do not like to climb over someone else or someone else to climb over you, then 4D or 4G is the seat to go.

Does anyone know what seats in the F cabin are considered "facility seats"?

According to Expertflyer 1A, K and 2A can only be reserved by SEN/HON.

as 1A and K are facility seats you can never have the guarantee until check in that you can keep it. Eg if suddenly somebody flies with a infant. But this is very rare in F so if u book it u usally are 95% sure to also receive it. Arent all window seats HON / SEN /FTL prioritised?

SWISS A343, best First Class side-by-side seats?

My parents have an upcoming SWISS flight MIA-ZRH on an A343. Are seats 1D/1G any more or less desirable than seats 2D/2G? Thanks.

No real difference - just sone nitty details.
Row 1 is more open in front and back - meaning low wall in front with walkway on the other side - so that there is more movement - second row has wall behind.
Advantage of row one when traveling together and not using the opposite seating with one person on the ottoman is that the timing for serving together is better as service is normally started at 2A/2D and then works forward that aisle and down the other so that 2G / 2 K are served last.
As said details - both are equally fine.

Cheers

Thomas
