Angry No more internet access at ZRH LX lounges

Just as a warning to everyone: There is NO more free internet access in the LX lounges in Zurich (ZRH), as of today. You can use the airport wide access, provided by the airport - however, this comes with substantial restrictions:
(a) it is limited to 60mins, and
(b) you need a mobile phone, with a Swiss (+41) phone number (which I don't have).

I find this absolutely sub-standard and intolerable for any airline, let alone at its homebase.

hello from the SEN lounge saw you post the thread
Don't know what LX is smoking either, completely unacceptable. Many frustrated customers in the lounge right now.

Hi,

unfortunately today it is 1st/Jan and not the 1st/April, otherwise I would think it is a joke.

I hope they change the policy immediately because otherwise I will switch to MUC for my short haul connections to East Europe.

I'm in the SEN lounge now as well, pretty weird decision. I hadn't expected they had paid for it anyway. Maybe that's the problem, no one wants to do it for free for them.

Just one more reason not to bother even going into the overcrowded uncomfortable LX SEN lounge in ZRH. What a strange decision by LX.

I was there last week when the manager from Swissport told the Lounge staff, its not LX who made this decision, its the Airport management, and LX and Swiss port have to play along.

Swiss can hardly blame the airport - why not just set up their own wifi?

They also blamed the airport when I talked to them. However, LX management completely ignores that lounge wifi access is treated seperately at any airport I know (perhaps with the only exception where unlimited wifi is provided to all pax on an unlimited and complementary basis, e.g. VIE).

But complementary, unlimited access is a standard feature of business/first class lounges around the globe. Even the LH lounges in Germany are now providing this.

This is a strange decision by an international carrier. Catching up on email is near essential when I am in transit at any airport. These days, I expect free internet to be baseline in any airport lounge.

Where WiFi is so cheap these days, this is NOT befitting of SWISS.
WiFi is not an option these days, it is a matter of course.
