Question TalkMail: Gratuitous links to The Gate, and archive broken

Recent TalkMail updates (like yesterday's) have had an annoying habit of linking to blog entries in The Gate, which then link right back to the thread in FlyerTalk where all the actual content is. Why?

Yes, I know The Gate is supposed to provide pointers to the best threads in FlyerTalk, and that's great for people who prefers blogs over weekly mails. But TalkMail serves exactly the same purpose, and making mail readers jump through hoops to get to those threads seems counterproductive.

Incidentally, the TalkMail archive at http://www.flyertalk.com/talkmail/ hasn't been updated since April, and even the old entries seem broken: the only content I get is "Unsubscribing" and ads.
