List of Acronyms, Airline codes, etc

Being a newbie to this mileage collector hobby of mine, I would like a list of the airline codes (ex. UA-United, CO-continental, etc) cuz I read postings and see mileage runs or posts about certain airlines, but dont know which ones they are...Id like a lil post up I can print out in nice and color and hang up on my board in front of my monitor...

Also the various seatings codes would be nice too....economy, first, business, NR, NC, etc....

does that make sense?
In general:

IATA Airline Codes:

For United (since you have posted there recently and have asked similar questions), please refer to the UA Forum FAQ, which contains:

United Airlines Forum Glossary

United Airlines Booking Codes Thread (OzStamps Booking Code thread):

perfect!!!...not sure why i didnt see this before, but THANK YOU!!
Another glossary for those who might be interested......
Just an FYI but we have recently posted a glossary of Travel Safety/Security terms in this thread.

When the government gets involved, acronyms start flying fast and furious. This glossary helps you cut through some of the jargon.
I just referred to the glossary, but couldn't find these terms:
TATL
TPAC
MFU
UC

All of which appear in appear in THIS single post. Help?

Is this a forum to asks questions like this? I didn't know where to go but saw this thread here.

Thanks!

And if you use FireFox one of the FTers made a greasemonkey script for airport codes so when you hover over an airport code it tells you what it is.

Nifty... where is that script?

Another FTer created a "FT translator", but so far it only incorporates the FT Glossary. It would be really handy if it included all the various forum glossaries. Relevant thread here.
SOL isn't in the glossary... please help!
Hi, was reading this just now:

Quote: I thought that I had my ex-ICN DONE4 itinerary finalized for ticketing, but I got this response from the CX reservation desk in ICN:
"Oneworld e-tkt do not accept open segment for RJ AIR."

1. Expert Flyer shows D9 for CAI-xAMM-ATH for RJ508/RJ131 but neither AA nor CX could see this for 4/14 or 4/15 or 4/16 dates. In fact TWO seats are not available in either 'L' or 'D' for any of dates, according to both of them, with the problem being the CAI-AMM segment. Expert Flyer states otherwise.
2. So, I'd inquired in the Oneworld forum if there's a way around it and I was informed that I could keep these segements open-dated and that I could then call RJ and confirm the dates. [Thread here]
3. But the CX reservation agent claims the following:

"Oneworld e-tkt do not accept open segment for RJ AIR.

We need to input waitlist segment to issue the ticket,
but the response was always UC(that means even waitlist
not allowed)"

Am I SOL at this point and need to find alternative routes? I can choose CAI-LHR-ATH or CAI-MAD-ATH but both of these involve a lot of travel time and the CAI-LHR-ATH will also incur additional taxes...
But I can't find SOL in the glossary... and my powers of deduction so far can only define it as "up a creek without a paddle"

You're correct with your powers of deduction.

SOL loosely translates to "Caca Outta Luck", excuse my Spanish.
Thankyou! See why it isn't in the glossary now... Need to spend more time on FT and then I'll be up to speed with all these little abbreviations!
Just to let you know, a lot (most) of these terms are NOT specific to FlyerTalk. "SOL," for example, is well-known and has NOTHING to do specifically with FT.

Ditto mrx900! The information would indeed come in handy when we needed it the most.
