Restrictions on the Acceptance of US Currency

Due to recent local regulations, the acceptance of US Dollars in cash is now restricted across Mexico. Payments with credit/debit cards remain unaffected. Please provide arrangements to settle your accounts and other expenses with a credit card or in Mexican Pesos. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause our guests.
FYI - the hotel also can't exchange USD<>MXN but they do have an ATM near the lobby (downstairs by the meeting rooms) that dispenses Pesos.

Does anyone know of the types of connecting rooms that the resort offers, or is a suite option the better way to go? There will be 3 or 4 girls and we require 2 washrooms....Any other advice is greatly appreciated. I have Plat Amex and this property is under the FHR and I am not sure if the breakfasts offered under this plan are continental or a full breakfast. Perhaps Virtuoso offers something better? Also I am SPG GOLD....so maybe a possible upgrade with this or with FHR? (Usually, I grab the free internet as my gold perk as I love to keep in touch with my family). Thanks in advance.
Just sent you a PM, but in short:

2 rooms connecting is the way to go. StR PM only has 1 suite that would accommodate two bathrooms.

The types of connecting rooms are the St. Regis Standard, but the Virtuoso amenity does include upgrade on arrival subject to availability (whether or not there are two higher category rooms available that happen to be next to each other is another story).

Breakfast offered at StR PM under Virtuoso is a full breakfast, not continental (Four Seasons: continental only).

Would not rely on SPG Gold to upgrade 2 rooms.

What is a St Regis Standard Room? The casita buildings offers tons of connecting options. Mainly suite to room.

Exceptional. We loved it. It was so nice it made it hard for us to leave the suite during daylight hours.

Spectacular!! Larger than my condo at home. Well and comfortably furnished, exactly as the pictures show. As you may be able to see, there is a shuttered window from the bedroom to the living room; so you can see the ocean directly ahead when lying in bed. And by far the largest bathroom/closet area I've ever experienced in a hotel. Mine was on the ground floor so I also had a huge outdoor shower off the bathroom.

Hi William - Did you ever get anymore information on this? I went back and forth with my Ambassador on this and the hotel just says they are sold out for the garden rooms for the nearly three months (Beginning of Jan to end of March). Really unfortunate also that they wont allow us to book into a higher category room by spending some more points (we did this 2 years ago when we went as we couldn't get the garden room the entire stay - but nothing like this).

Pretty disappointing that we basically cant go for a whole three month period....

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I did; and I had advised DC777Fan via PM. It turned out to be a legitimate situation. They have a lot of groups coming in that have taken all the available standard rooms. They did suggest to keep checking periodically as groups sometimes cancel rooms off their room block and these are returned to the general availability pool.

Could not agree more on the Beachfront Deluxe Suite!! I was fortunately upgraded to this room on a points stay, and this is by far the best stay at any hotel I have ever stayed at.

The patio space is great, and you know you're close to the beach when you have to go inside to take a phone call because the waves are so loud! One hidden gem that I discovered too late was that there is a large automatic screen that covers the double doors going to the balcony that will allow the fresh air in while keeping the bugs out!

Highly recommend this room if I can be had!!!

I know. I'd much rather spend the next three months at StRPM.

Must have alot of groups already booked in 2016 too!

It looks like all of Jan, Feb and March of 2016 are also fully booked with convention and group bookings!!!!

Frankly, I call BS on that. The hotel is clearly holding back the inventory so as to sell rooms first. I find it incredible that not one night for a stretch of Jan 14, 2016 to April 3, 2016 is available on points. And of course this property does not allow the other room categories on points. Period.

It's a shame because it is such a wonderful property.

Certainly sounds like shenanigans if other 2016 dates are available on points. There's simply no way that 6 different months are fully booked -- half of it 2 years out.

What I don't get is that SPG supposedly compensates hotels at rack rate or very nearly rack rate if the hotel is at least 9x% full. If they're so sure the hotel is going to be full, it seems like they're better off taking point reservations (effectively rack rate) than advance purchase cash reservations at a discount.

Also, they're not selling the base level rooms for cash, either, so when exactly do they expect to sell them? Or are they only offering them via travel agents/other third parties?

Lucky you and Sophia Vargas. But I bet she got her beach front suite free from all the photos that were released.

We were there at the end of Feb/beginning of March. Our last day a group came in, taking over the resort. It was NOT pleasant. At the family pool, they were loud and drunk and playing loud music on their portable stereo. When asked to turn it down, I got a very nasty look and reply that they were here on vacation and wanted to have a good time, including music.

Prior to that, it was the most wonderful resort vacations we have ever had. So wonderful, that we are going back in a few weeks! The resort and staff is everything everyone on this board has spoken about. We had to take one of our teenage daughters at the last minute due to some health concerns. I exchanged emails with Michael O'hara and the staff was wonderful with us and even had a VERY comfortable cot already in our upgraded with SNAs suite for her.

Just an FYI for those thinking about going while a group is there...
