Sheraton Rajputana Palace Hotel, Jaipur - They had some beautiful painted ceramic coasters as the amenity so I took that instead of the points.
ITC Mughal, Agra - They suggested that I probably want to take the points as my amenity but having read of the beautiful Taj Mahal replica they give as their amenity I made sure to ask about it and took it in lieu of the points.

At the suggestions of SanDiego1K I've edited the first post to create a comprehensive list of everything posted in the thread. I suspect that some of the things posted may not be "Local Gifts" per the SPG Platinum Amentiy form but simply things the hotel puts into the room for you as an additional gift. yosithezet, thanks for creating the list. I had no idea there were so many properties with interesting local gifts. I've been taking my points without fail. I need to start asking about the local gift.

i started by collecting a differn't w hat from each w i stayed at. on repeat stays i then moved to the w umbrellas from each hotel. i am back to the hats this time around as my daughter is now jeweling them with rhinestones.

Great point BlissWorld. You'll notice that I also included defunct properties like the Le Meridien Pacific Tokyo. I guess I see the list as more novelty than showing exactly what you'll be offered. At least with some history of what was offered we'll be in a good position to inquire as to what might be available.

Arabella Sheraton Grand Munich, I took the amenity which was a nice bottle of South African Red which was replaced regularly during my weeks stay. At one stage I had 3 unopened bottles and had to work overtime
Best amenity I have ever seen and when I visited the lounge was offered even more bottles to take back to my room if I wanted

Just to clarify, the Local Gift is something that you can choose instead of the 500 points. Typically the choices are something like:
- 500 bonus points
- $5 food/beverage credit
- Local Amenity #1
- Local Amenity #2
This does not refer to the bottle of wine or bowl of fruit waiting in your room regardless of what you choose.

Completed a stay at the ITC Windsor in Bengaluru, a Luxury Collection property. Interesting choices:
1. 500 points (of course)
2. Credit worth USD 5 on your total F&B bill
3. Food: Walnut brownie with Fresh fruits & Vanilla Ice cream
AND
4. Domestic Beer (Two) & Soft Drinks (Two)
OR
Half Bottle of Chateau Indage MArquis De Pmpadour (Sparkling Wine)
* Interesting that 3 and 4 are combined with sub-options. I'm thinking that the 3+4 combo will come in way above the USD 5 of option 2.

I was given a choice of their bear, which my girlfriend wanted. Of course the front desk happened to not have any, so they had me take the one from the room. We all know what happened, I was on the phone after seeing the bear show up as a charge on the room and it took a week to fix it.
