SPG INSTANT AWARDS

SPG Participation Policy

There are no standard rooms at this resort; therefore, Starpoint Award reservations must be booked at a higher Starpoint rate through your local customer contact center. Also, since all accommodations are either suites or villas, upgrades for Starwood Preferred Guest members do not apply.

Non-Smoking Policy

The resort is committed to providing guests and associates with an enhanced quality of air and environment by providing 100% non-smoking guest rooms, suites, and villas. Violations of this policy will incur a 250 USD penalty. Designated smoking areas are available in public areas.

Seclusion Day Information: March 9, 2016

Nyepi, known as the “Day of Silence,” marks the celebration of the Balinese New Year in the Hindu Lunar calendar. A spectacular procedure of ceremonies, parades of great bamboo monsters, and fireworks occur on the Eve of Nyepi, followed by a day of total silence and seclusion. The community strongly believes that if the island is silent and dark, the bad spirits will leave and the new year will start in peace. During Nyepi, from 6am until 6am the next day, the island stops. Nobody is allowed in the streets, use of electricity is restricted, and the international airport is closed.

In 2016, Nyepi will fall on Wednesday, March 9. Please note that check-in and checkout will not be possible on Nyepi Day, and Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) will be closed. Some of the resort facilities will operate as usual; however, there will be no transportation services to and from the resort, and televisions will not be available. Lights will be dimmed inside and there will be no outdoor lighting. Our pools and garden areas will still be accessible except for the beach. Only indoor seating will be available at Boneka Restaurant. Gourmand Deli will close at 8pm. King Cole Bar will remain closed.

We kindly invite you to respect this sacred day and observe these restrictions. Normal activity in Bali will resume at 6am on Thursday, March 10.

We're planning to stay there for 5 nights in very early April, so I expect the weather will be a bit dodgy, but we'll survive.

We'll be coming in from Malaysia and Hong Kong though, after spending a few nights there. In that sense, we're the opposite of you. We'll be doing the energetic bit first, and looking for the chill towards the end, just before we head back home to London. With that said, it sounds like StR might tick that box, unless I do a couple of nights at each (which isn't out of the question).

In general - I do love W's, and their energy - but we'll have ticked that box prior to arrival.
Sounds like SR is perfect for your needs! A solid choice. Be aware they've suspended airport VIP for the time being, I'd avoid the CX and KA flights as they land at horrible times, so fly from KL if you can. Let's us know about rates, I'd still conserve your points and splurge on CX or SQ First. Best of luck, remember to diet - that breakfast is among the best in the world!

Haha, point noted regarding the breakfast. Amazing how a great breakfast really sets the tone for the rest of your day! Will report back about how I end up booking.

Regarding flights - I hadn't even looked into all that. Fortunately, I'm flying with MH from KL, so looks like we'll be OK. We land at DPS at 15:05, which seems reasonable! Shame about the VIP service though.

Argh, that's peak time! Widebodies from SIN, BKK, HKG... Just prep yourself for the potential of a 2-3 hr experience. I saw a post from one guy that spent an equal time in DPS as his flight from Bangkok. My family arrived around 1515 and it was 2 hours, albeit in Aug (peak season?).

We no longer fly via HKG as a result. We are deliberately overnighting in SIN next summer so that we can take the 0700 departure and be DPS' first international arrival of the day (around 0940). Pity the experience has grown so grim, hopefully by April they can figure their stuff out.

Holy sugar! Wasn't expecting that... Right, I'm going to have to figure something else out... Even though I'm British, I'm not one for queuing...

Maybe by then the VIP service will be restored. It has always been part of the SR service, and previously could be booked for $25-$30 per person. In past summers, we've casually walked past weeping families on our way to the front of the queue. But for some reason, they've "temporarily" done away with it.

So, unlike landing at LHR, there's no dedicated fasttrack for premium passengers. It really is a shame. I can't stand when the premium experience ends the moment the seat belt sign is switched off.

I did see a Facebook post from somebody suggesting the service had been restored, but I haven't been able to verify. I'd reach out to the SR as your arrival date approaches. GOOD LUCK!

Can anyone confirm whether or not this hotel participates in the SNA program, and if so which room category the SNA confirms into?

Hi DC777Fan,

The hotel does indeed participate in the SNA program.

However, rooms that are eligible for Suite Night Award upgrades vary by SPG Participating Hotel. In general, a standard suite or select premium room as designated by a hotel is eligible depending on availability.

If you would like me to check a certain date for you, feel free to send a PM with more details or email to the address below.

Best regards,

When we went to Bali, we were a family of 9. Just landed from Singapore on a widebody jet and the last passengers to leave the fully booked flight. Luckily we found an officer who offered us to take us through the "residents line". A little dodgy but we payed US$40 for not having to wait.

There were only a few people on the ASEAN lane when I landed around 6pm+. The queue for non-ASEAN lane was amazingly long.

My intended 4 nights stay at the St Regis Bali (pay 3 get 1 free on Amex FHR as well) was cut down to just one night. Spent the first night at the W Retreat up in Seminyak and the second night at the Westin, and finally at St Regis today. I haven't seen updates on SPG Plat benefits so here goes:

Choice between:
1. 500 points
2. 30 minutes foot massage for 2 (once per stay)
3. Breakfast at Boneke (wish I knew this, so I can booked a cheaper prepaid rate).

So, we opted for the 30 minutes foot massage since our rate includes breakfast, daily 55 minutes Balinese massage for two, champagne for two, admissions to children learning center for child 5 and under.

Luckily, we were upgrade to the plunge pool suite (my expectation had gone away from reading the tag line "since we are an all suites resort, we do not upgrade SPG platinum guests). So, this was a nice surprise the day of checkin.

I did asked about paid upgrade to a lagoon pool villa, but at $375 (or was it $350) was a bit steep. I have seen various posts here that the upgrade had been offered around $200 to $250. So, I did not partake on the paid upgrade.

IIRC all room rates include breakfast at Boneka, so it should not even be an option for Platinums. Has that rule changed?

There are quite a few discount rates eg Hot Escapes which don't include BF

Does anyone have experience with SNA here. Does it take you from St Regis suite to plunge pool suite?
