Same experience from Platinum friend who checked out this morning. Texted her to ask when I saw this last night. She was also told something changing with manager's reception, but wasn't clear on details.

Just completed a 1-night stay here. I booked with points and did not get charged any fees. They did still offer the free happy hour and free high speed internet though. Also, they said I was the guest of the day, and told me I won 500 star points. Not sure what that was about but not gonna complain lol they're also currently running a promotion in their gift shop - for every $20 you spend they give you 200 starpoints. Went and bought myself some bottles of alcohol to take advantage.

Overall the staff was nice and the room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay again in the future

Keep an eye as to whether they post. Had to send receipts to hotel. Luckily I kept them

Just completed a 2 night stay at this property.

The resort fee was charged, but I was on business so it was taken care of. The hotel in itself is okay compared to a normal Westin. The hotel lobby itself is a bit small but the staff were nice.

My room - just a king size bed, typical room. Nothing particularly special. I had a good view of the High Roller ferris wheel at the Linq, however.

One complaint most people have - soundproofing is not very good. My neighbours were great, but I could hear them pulling the drapes/shades in the morning and in the evening. You can also hear people talking as they walk past your room. Housekeeping was pretty noisy too.

The restaurant was nothing special. I got a daily buffet breakfast. Typical fruits, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, cereals/breads etc. I was working late last night so I opted to have a NY steak downstairs. Again, wasn't amazing or awful. It was just a steak at best.

The casino - It's pretty small in comparison to the casinos on the strip and no rowdy people were present. The bar looks depressing and not very inviting. The happy hour thing happens every night but I did not participate. People are allowed to smoke here, so as a non-smoker, I found it to be off putting.

The Starbucks is opened 24/7 which is kind of nice and convenient. If I wanted to grab a small snack or a bottle of water, they were just downstairs. I didn't go inside the gift shop but the bonus points deal was still available.

All in all, my stay was ok, but nothing spectacular. If you are here for business, stay at the Element instead.

Edit: I should add, in which this is just my personal opinion, but the resort fee is silly. This was nowhere like a resort. The spa itself was almost transparent. I barely knew it even existed.

Very nice hotel

Wrong hotel
Just completed a four night stay. We were pleased with the property.

Pros
Was upgraded to a two room suite.
Nice pool area and artificial beach with boats available
Staff was very pleasant and helpful
Had a very good massage in the health club. $75 + tip on weekday special

Cons
Room was nice. However dated.
Chose breakfast as my platinum amenity. Buffet was okay with usual offerings but nothing outstanding

Pro or con depending on your needs
Was a half hour from the strip and has a very un Las Vegas feel

Sorry for this post. It should have been posted to the thread for the Westin Lake Las Vegas

So, I am looking at this property and on the prepaid rate there is no "amenity charge" but for the flexible rate there is one listed. Any experience on this? Would I be charged at the hotel later? Just curious if any other have any experience with this.

My promised gift-shop points didn't post either, though I did not try tracking them down. I would not let that "promotion" sway my decision to shop there.

Note: the property has been taken over by a new management company. They are working on reducing costs...

No more happy hour. Instead you get a voucher for 1 drink at the bar during the 2 hour window.

Also, no more bottled water for plats at checkin. instead the have fused water self serve stations with plastic cups for the public.

Also, no more stack of newspapers by the elevators on each floor and none to the rooms either.

The restaurant changed their billing style for breakfast as well and instead of platinums getting a $0 bill you get a bill for the full amount which I'm told they'll 0 out on the hotels end later. Not sure the reasoning. Either to make sure customers tip properly or perhaps they're keeping the accounting on the restaurant separate from the hotel, so the restaurant gets paid for the breakfasts from the hotel?

Lastly, they reduced the amount of staff at the hotel and cut hours as well. We'll see how this impacts service. They're promising new room renovations by this summer and supposedly the new management didn't like how the lobby was renovated last year so they claim they're going to redo the lobby again as well.

Update to add: On the positive side, the room (at least that I was assigned) now has outlets and usb slots on the night-table by the beds! No more needing to bring an extension cord with you!

Update 2 to add: the front desk is able to get the newspaper delivered to your room if you special request it at check-in.

Yikes....Don't like where this is going. I am actually a big fan of this hotel - love the location etc., When it comes to cutting costs it seems they are just being cheap. If you really want to cut costs and make a difference I don't think the papers or bottled water is going to turn you around? I did enjoy the happy hour a lot - that is too bad!! I sure hope they don't get silly and start making Plats pay the silly resort fees. I stay here because I usually get good BRG's and the location etc., but tack on the resort fees and I will use my Total Rewards Comps at Bally's in a jiffy. Resort fees at this place make no sense - well they don't make sense anywhere!!!! It will be very interesting what happens here. Is that not like the 3rd or 4th change in management companies at this place?

I stayed at this Westin three years ago in January. Just a stop going from Park City to Santa Barbara. Had my lab, all 90 lbs of him. They are dog friendly but supposed to be under 50 lbs. I carry an email from a previous time I booked it that said it was ok for my dog even though he was over the requirement, never had to use it. They were very accommodating and pleasant, the hotel is nothing special though. Clean room, nice bed.

If I were to travel there on business I'd consider it. Far enough away from the center of things yet close enough to enjoy them if desired. One key for me with the dog was having some space to walk him around, do his business, etc. Amazing how dead Vegas can be 1 1/2 blocks off the strip. Bottom line, if you've got a pet, this is a good place.

Has it been refurbished since 2013?
