Any more recent stays at this property?
I usually bounce between the Westin/LM Galleria properties, but due to stricter client booking guidelines it's either this or a non-SPG property, so my hand is forced.
I guess I'll be able to give it a review in a few weeks regardless. I will miss the Galleria convenience

I'm supposed to be here in about a month (renovations scheduled to be completed in September '16) and wanted to see how far along they were.
TIA

Any update? I know they've been going through a "full transformation of guestrooms, meeting space, restaurant, fitness center and lobby" renovation.

The rooms were definitely showing their age so hopefully that renovation will go through soon.
On the platinum recognition, I wonder if it was unusually busy because I've received a suite here on probably 8 of my last 10 stays and they are usually huge suites with a dining table. I'm also usually given a full breakfast and the 500 points. As far as Westins go, the platinum recognition I've received has always been about as good as it gets.

That's disappointing to hear. I know they are currently doing renovations and I thought the lobby turned out pretty good. The bar area is a perfectly nice place to grab a drink or dinner.

Agreed its not the best Westin out there but it's consistently been the lowest rate for me and a solid location for what I need. Hopefully the renovation lifts this property to where it should be (shouldn't be difficult as it was showing its age).

Westin Dallas Park Central is now a new hotel!
The renovations here are complete and I had a chance to tour the property tonight and see a bunch of the work they've done there. It is absolutely stunning! They totally redid the lobby/bar area; it's totally open with ample seating and a much more modern feel. The pool on the 3rd floor has a great view and ambiance. I walked through a room and the junior suite (which has a dining table/chairs and sofa) and it's basically the size of a small apartment (or a large apartment for you east-coasters).
I was not here as a staying guest so I can't comment on elite recognition, quality of beds, etc. However, anyone who has previously called this hotel old or depressing should give it another go. I tend to be pretty selective about where I stay but would definitely have this on my list if I didn't live in Dallas
Photos on their website (www.westindallasparkcentral.com) are okay and you can probably find more if you search around, just make sure they're recent.

Wanted to provide a more recent stay update. The renovations maybe brought this property into the lower echelon of Westins and it is not as nice as the Galleria property a few minutes away. My platinum status was only recognized with points at check-in. Room upgrade was a "high floor with good view." Disappointing given the number of suites available at this property and how empty hotel was all weekend.
If not given a room on the 18th floor, I would not have even been aware of a club lounge. No weekend services were provided in the club lounge and by early afternoon on Saturday, the stocked beverage fridge had been depleted of everything but milk. Friendly bartender at lobby bar. Pool was adequate, but no food or drink services at pool. Free coffee in lobby, but take the cups from your room as the cups at the coffee bar in lobby are tiny.
Best part of this stay was very low corporate rate for weekend ($80) and for that price, you can live with a few disappointments.

I've had multiple issues with this property and SPG Elite benefits in the past. Oftentimes the front desk will claim no suite availability when suites are available at spg.com. When challenged on this, they will cough up a suite (reluctantly). After a particularly bad experience in February I responded to the GM's post-stay email with a constructive critique of the property. Got a nice email back from the GM apologizing and promising 5,000 Starpoints. These have yet to be credited, even after a follow-up confirmation from the GM.
The property has also stopped offering free breakfast as a Plat benefit. They are of course within rights to do so, but given the other issues I'll be staying elsewhere from now on.

Update: Appears to have an evening spread.
I stayed here for one night.
Used a Platinum Suite Night Upgrade, it was confirmed about 3 nights prior to arrival.
Checked in with absolutely no fuss, fast and efficient.
Westin Executive Lounge was open and located on the 18th floor. Arrived in the lounge around 8:50PM, still had a decent spread of bar bites, including Spanakopita, fried chicken bits, and some kind of soups. Had half sandwiches and a dessert entree.
