Does anyone have information/e-mail for this hotel? I would like to try and arrange a day trip to Ronda from the hotel. Also is the regular award room for 20K one of the small rooms? Anyone have the prices for the other rooms/suites with awards? It doesn't show online.

Thank you.

Often you can call SPG to book higher room categories with points, although hotels aren't obligated to offer this.

I was here last week. It had been one of my target hotels for a while as it used to appear on my SPG membership card!

I was not disappointed.

It really is a beautiful hotel in a great location right in the center of town across from the Alacazar.

None of my SNA's cleared, but the room was of a good size and I had a great view over the main square.

The breakfast in the morning is also very good with plenty of hot food, fruit, breads, although not too many cheeses.

It was disappointing that the hotel pool was not heated as it would have been nice to have a dip!

There was also drilling going on at the hotel in the room next to me. The manager's apologized and we were given lunch in the courtyard there which made up for it. Was a nice gesture.

I would definitely recommend however.

Also really nice piece about the hotel here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...el-Europe.html

Getting Deluxe Double Room for 25k points/night

Staying for 3 nights from June 7-10 on 25k points/night with SNA's requested. Status: PLT
Questions:
1) From reading the reviews here, it seems this hotel is worth it, but some of thre reviewers quote lower points redemption rates, so what is the consensus on spending 25k/night, is it still worth it from a service, room, amenities perspective?
2) My other issue is, I have a 13 year old with us making that 3 adults.
I am taking a gamble that they will clear my SNA request and upgrade us to their Deluxe Suite (only suite available as SNA upgrade).
I am wondering if there will be considerable hassle if SNA doesn't clear and they force me to upgrade to a room (at least a Grand Deluxe) that allows 3 occupants and the difference is going to be huge?
How is the hotel on upgrading in general, with or without SNA's?
3) I assume and have read that as PLT, I would be able to get the FULL breakfast buffet (not just continental)? And also, internet, not either/or?
4) Is the breakfast buffet going to be for all 3 of us?
5) Alternatively, if using $, I am not seeing any special rates for these dates, the cheapest I am seeing is 350+ euros/night. At that rate, I would rather use points. Any tips/tricks to get lower rates?

During my last stay at the Alfonso, prior to having any SPG status (I was a marriott plat), we booked the entry-level room with two twin beds (adult + child). When we tried to check in around 11am, the manager told us they didn't have any rooms with two twins available yet. We took a walk, grabbed lunch, stopped back around 12:30pm. Still nothing, but we could hardly blame them. Seeing us at the desk twice, the Manager quickly stepped in and asked if two adjacent queen rooms might be alright....YES PLEASE!

From my experience, the property is incredibly accommodating when their availability allows them to be, so I really don't imagine you'll have a problem unless your stay is during a high occupancy/sellout.

Looks like even if I do get upgraded to their Deluxe Suite, I would have to pay 75 Euro/night + taxes for the 3rd person occupancy on top of the 25000 points/night. Hmm, will have to re-assess, not sure if it is worth the risk and $ and points.

By far the best SPG stay this year. The upgrade was only from a Deluxe to a Grand Deluxe, but it was a beautiful room with plenty of space. The only downside in the room was the lack of a kettle/coffee maker - I learned on check-out I could have requested one (so noted for a future visit).

The pool was a bit crowded, but a great way of relaxing after a day of sightseeing and some drink prices were not excessive (EUR4.50 for a beer but cocktails looked a lot pricier).

I booked SPG Plus rate (cheaper than Member flexible rate when booking), which provided full breakfast, so I was able to get the Plat amenity points too. Breakfast was excellent, in particular the cold food (meats, cheeses, etc). The San Fernando restaurant in the courtyard was beautiful for dinner. I really enjoyed the wine and appetiser; not sure I chose the right main (pork) as it had little flavour.

This was my first visit to Seville and was blown away how beautiful the centre of the city is - everything was within easy walking distance of the hotel.

This is a hotel that I’ve been meaning to visit for some time, so I was really looking forward to it. Was in the Reales Alcazares Suite, which is on the top floor, roughly above the hotel entrance. You have great views of the Cathedral, especially when it’s lit up at night. I wish there were more windows in the suite for viewing, and a balcony. The Reales Suite is ornately furnished, but is a little smaller (~800 square feet) than you would expect from a “Presidential Suite”. Bathroom is a good size with Acqua di Parma toiletries.

After check-in, a fruit plate and bottle of French champagne (De Castellane) were brought up. As a self-professed champagne snob, I found the De Castellane to be quite drinkable. I think it’s about $35/bottle. The second day, some cookies and a bottle of orange wine was brought up. I received a bottle of Rioja the third day, along with bread, cheese, and tapenade spread. The fourth day was a bottle of cava and a dessert plate. One can definitely get spoiled!

The grounds and pool area of the hotel are amazing to walk around in. The gym is in a separate building near the pool, and has a good selection of equipment to choose from. And of course, the hotel is just minutes away from the Cathedral and Alcazar.
Breakfast was one of the best spreads I’ve ever seen! It just went on and on, and had everything you could possibly think of. The room service menu is rather disappointing. It was essentially lunch entrees such as sandwiches and pastas. Too bad there weren’t any local dishes aside from your jamon samplers and such.

As a side note, there’s a store inside the hotel that sells wine and olive oil. They organize tapas tours (95 Euros) and trips to Jerez (275 Euros). The tapas tour hit up 4 places – it was good, but you can do the same thing for a third of the price elsewhere. The day trip to the Jerez wineries was worth it. We were brought to a small sherry vineyard, where we got to speak to the owner, get a tour, and do a tasting of several sherries. This was followed up by a tour of Lustau, which included 15 tastings! And to close things out, we had a 5 course seafood lunch with paired sherries. It was a boozy trip, and well worth it.

WiFi was about 10Mbps. As others mentioned, a hotel tour is offered by the head concierge. It was a fascinating 45 minute experience, as I was taken through the Royal Suites, private terraces, and the ballrooms. At the end of the tour, I was offered a complimentary drink too! That gives you an idea of the service to expect here. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re ever in Sevilla!

I'm stunned I never posted a link to my review of this property from last summer. Let me start by saying it was one of the most fantastic stays I've had in Europe from any hotel.

Everyone we told that we were staying at the Hotel Alfonso XIII would remark how we were staying in the best of the best. Some seemed to think it cost a lot more than it did as if we must have paid a King's ransom. This hotel has amazing history and wonderful charm. If you play around with rates and promotions, you may, like I did, get a sub-$200 rate that includes breakfast (much better than 20,000 points!).

And one of the best parts, given how hot Seville gets in summer, is the beautiful pool. I would stop back mid-day for a dip to cool off, as the August temperatures were over 100F.

Link to my review of the Hotel Alfonso XIII.

After all these years, I’m finally getting the chance to stay at the Alfonso XIII. The last time I was traveling to The south of Spain, this property was undergoing renovations. I will be staying for a few nights in early July before continuing on to Mdrid and Barcelona. Has anyone stayed there in 2018? Do you have any tips for me as far as room types or locations? As an SPG Plat, I’m hoping for an upgrade! We shall see.... Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Travelosopher. I stayed at Alfonso XIII for three nights in early April with my wife and three children. We loved the hotel. Fortunately for us it was our last stop on a ten night trip, otherwise it would have been really disappointing to check out of the Alfonso and check in to a lesser hotel in another city. Room tips: I reserved two connecting rooms so i did not expect and did not receive an upgrade (I am SPG gold and also booked through Virtuoso agent). It did appear as if we were given some of the best connecting rooms at the hotel. Our rooms were located on the top floor (4th I believe), center of the hallway and over the pool (city view). Without knowing for sure, i think you should request a room on the third or fourth floor that has a city view (meaning not a courtyard view). Hope you get an upgrade, but if not you will still be happy.

Thank you for the room/location info. I generally like the top floors in hotels as they’re quieter and have nice views. Sometimes the top floor in an older hotel might have much lower ceilings (former attic space) so I might like to avoid those rooms. The hotel looks BEAUTIFUL and I’m really looking forward to my stay. You are probably right that having to checkout of the Alfonso XIII and move on to another location might be my biggest problem! I hope so!

My wife, daughter and I spent two nights at this awesome hotel last week. I had booked a larger room that could accommodate the three of us and then used some of my Marriott Bonvoy upgrades to successfully get a larger room. As we pulled up to the hotel we were amazed at the building; it was an amazing structure. We were told that our assigned room was not ready but we could be given another room immediately. We decided to wait until our assigned room was ready and explore the town. We were given a voucher for two free cocktails as my welcome gift and I selected the breakfast. We went to the terrace and had some drinks and tapas. What an amazing setting to have a drink and a snack. The food, drink and service were great. We went out for a walk and got the call that our room was ready. After a bit more touring we returned to the hotel and were escorted to our room by one of the desk agents. The room was 145 and it was amazing. It was even larger than the upgrade that I had got with the SNA. While we were there we spent time on the terrace three times (afternoon and evening), ate in the courtyard restaurant once and ate a full meal on the terrace. We had breakfast twice at the hotel. All meals were very good from the service to the food. The breakfast was amazing. It was the largest non-Vegas buffet I have seen. All three of us were allowed the full buffet, something that old Starwood hotels in Europe tend to do quite frequently. This hotel made an amazing city even more so. Yes the large room was great but that isn’t the reason. The service, food and attention to detail were amazing. Each night we received a small gift from the hotel with a hand written note. I just can’t say enough positive things about this hotel and the staff. If you’re going to be in Seville you cannot go wrong staying here.

We stayed there for three nights and were upgraded to an amazing suite (was plat). It was the best SPG hotel we ever stayed at (I happen to love the architecture); will definitely return whenever we visit Spain again.

I think our stay coincided with yours. We had 5 nights on points/SNAs and were upgraded to a beautiful suite (121)

The staff could not have been more gracious and accommodating and we definitely plan to return.
