Sounds like the exit date has been fluctuating a little bit. I have a honeymoon planned here mid August on points. Think that it's safe, or should I rebook with dollars in case they leave SPG early?

Thanks!

Because LMKL leaves Starwood soon I decided to go there again and just came back from another nice stay at this property. Good staff, good food, smooth stay in general, no issues.

The hotel is still on track to leave Starwood on Oct 31st 2014. Latest info (from the GM) is that hotel will be part of Accor and will become a Pullman.

That will be the second Pullman in the area as there is already a brand new Pullman in Phuket area which opened about 15 months ago in Naithon beach. (very nice property btw). A number of former LMKL employees actually work for the new Pullman.

Nothing new to add as PLT benefits stays the same (breakfast, 2 drinks per day per room etc. This time I was upgraded in an ocenafront villa which was quite nice. (I booked a pool Villa) The villas are in need of a little TLC. Hope that Accor will convince the actual owner to invest money in the resort to maintain it at the top.

Occupancy level was low (as it is everywhere in Thailand now) generally speaking occupancy rate in Thailand is roughly down 20% from last year due to political situation.

So this hotel is still a nice place to go before they leave Stawood. I still recommend it. This property is still unique by his concept and his location, I am sad to see it leaving Starwood.

Just staying there right now.

Pullman confirmed. They will merge with the new Pullman Kaoh Lak that opened on August 15th (south part of the current Meridien, behind the Premium Villas) and form one big resort.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We were informed that reservations for dates on or after October 31, 2014 will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual. For accommodation arrangements at the hotel after October 31, 2014 , you will have to contact the hotel directly.

I hope this clarifies any confusion.

That's not cool at all. Spa pool is the alternative I assume?

Yep - the spa pool is supposed to be 18+, but it's not being enforced. I've seen several families using it (and I'm not going to tell them to leave). The spa pool is also desperately in need of repair. Tons of tiles missing from the pool floor (I scratched my toe pretty badly on one) and mold/gunk in the tile grout.

When I was there a couple weeks ago the kids pool was open also while the main pool was being repaired - its labeled the kids pool because of the water slides although saw many adults using the slides. It consists of two large pools connected by 2 narrow canals and in good condition. The spa pool was quite a let down.

Yea, I believe that was open as well. Still, disappointed with the lack of communication. It's not like this hotel was in the middle of Minnesota or something where the pool isn't one of the main focuses of the hotel. This is a "Beach & Spa Resort" by their own definition.
