Nights available on points:
  • Open up 12 months out
  • Availability seems to open up five weeks out.
Fees when booking on points:
  • City Tax of 400 XPF for each night

Transportation
PPT-BOB Flights:
  • Round trip $350-600 per person
  • Premium ticket includes more checked baggage allowance, priority boarding (sit on the left side for island views), and drink on board.
  • Air Tahiti is strict with their baggage allowance. Excess baggage is $1.5 per pound over the limit.
  • The airline is known to weigh hand luggage if it has wheels or is larger than your typical backpack or purse.
    • If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
    • Carry-on items do not seemed to be tagged so the gate agents do not know what bags have been checked
  • Checked bags are weighed at the BOB airport for your PPT return flight
    • They seem to not be as strict with charging for excess weight
  • Lap infants are charged 10%
  • Check the minimum connection time. If you arrive early Air Tahiti is likely to move you to an early flight based upon availability free of charge.
  • In March 2022 the domestic security was asking that passengers remove and leave any large bottles of liquid from their hand luggage. Sealed duty free alcohol seems to be the exception.
  • Tip: Sometimes it is cheaper to pack alcohol and pay the $1.5 per pound excess luggage fee than to purchase duty free at LAX.

Boat Transfer as of April 2022:
  • 14,000 XPF per person roundtrip
  • Children are free (not sure if there is an age cutoff)
It would be rather difficult to take the free boat from the BOB airport to Vaitape and then take the complimentary shuttle to St Regis. You would need to carry your luggage and time your flights accordingly. This would also need to be coordinated with the property.

Rooms
Renovated Rooms:
101 - Deluxe Over Water Villa w/ view may be renovated
504 - Reefside
Royal Estate (currently under renovations)

Platinum Benefits (2022)
  • Breakfast for two (property is firm on this and will not provide free breakfast for any additional adults in the room)
  • Welcome amenity in the room
    • Bottle of Champagne
    • Light snacks / fruit
  • 10% off products with the St. Regis Resort logo at the gift shop
  • 20% off Bloody Mary Cocktails at the Aparima Bar
  • 20% off Cocktail of the Day
  • St. Regis Sarong when you spend 15,000 xpf on products at the spa
  • Bonus points when purchasing massages at the spa

Daily Gifts
  • 8-night stay April 2022
    • Day 1 - stuffed animals for kids
    • Day 1 - Large tote bag with St. Regis Bora Bora logo w/ waterproof lining in room
    • Day 2 - Day 7 Tahitian Oils next to bed
    • Day 3 - Two fridge magnets

Item you can request for free
  • Pool floats can be loaned out from the main pool
  • Snorkel gear
  • Microwave can be put in room by room service free of charge
  • Extra small bottles of water can be requested by the housekeeper while they are cleaning
  • Coffee service to the room from the butler before 12pm
  • Two pressed items per person any time of the day
  • For infants
    • Cribs
    • Large bottles of water for formula
  • For Kids
    • Free meals at all restaurants
    • Free ice cream
    • Free room service (even items from the regular menu)

Things to bring
  • Water shoes can be helpful in the lagoon and on some excursions
  • Alcohol
    • Mini fridge is empty and can store champagne
    • Boxed wine is light weight and stores easily in fridge
    • If you don't plan to spend a few hours on the main island you can purchase fresh juices as mixers
    • Pre-mixed canned cocktails (like cutwater spirits) seemed to be popular at the main beach. Bring your own insulated tumbler and ask for a bucket of ice.

Upgrade from beachside pool villa?

It looks like most of folks here booked into the basic OWV and got upgraded as platinum member. Any experience of upgrading from the land villa? Can SNA be useful here? Definitely interested in trying OWV as part of our 4 night stay. Has anyone negotiated OWV upgrade with additional $$ or points in advance or upon check in?

By the way, how's the snorkel experience in Bora Bora? compared to Maldives?

Question St Regis Bora Bora

Planning to go to the St Regis @ Bora Bora. Trying to decide if I should book through a TA or book through the SPG site since I have the SPG card.

There's a ton of fees not included in the SPG rate, wondering anyone can tell me how much more would I pay with the extra fees not included in the rate.

CITY TAX of XPF 200.00 Per Person / Per Night
SERVICE CHARGE of 4.00% Per Room / Per Night
TOURISM TAX of 5.00% Per Room / Per Night
VAT of 5.00% Per Room / Per Night
BOAT TRANSFER of XPF 13,000.00 Per Person / Per Stay

If I book through SPG site, I'd accrue a ton of points as well. I could also apply for SPG biz to hit that spend too.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Fees/Taxes are not "eligible" charges, so you wont get points for those, which I think you understand. However, booking on the SPG site, would ensure you get all points and associated benefits.

You will get get points for all charges to the credit card.

If you look into the Starwood TA program called Luxury Privileges you'll find a 4th night free, breakfast and airport transfers included.

SPG points are earned

Is there a list of TA's on Flyertalk I can talk to? I couldn't find it in some of the older threads.

I could be mistaken, but I believe SPG50 has to be booked directly through an SPG contact center. This would preclude it from being combined with 4NF.

That's correct. See below the Terms & Conditions for the SPG50 rate:

- Callers must advise they are using a 50% Off Award and request Rate Plan ID: SPG50 when making reservations.

- 50% Off Award is not combinable with other room or rate promotional discounts or special programs, including Upgrade Certificates.

I can confirm that the rate is bookbale online without calling the contact centerm at least for Bora Bora and Hawaii properties.

As for the room type I can only book the entry level room, is it possible to change this?

That should not be the case. Could the online rate be a 50% off promotional rate that does not require an SPG50 certificate/award? Can you provide a url where you see this?

You might be able to buy up/be upgraded at check-in, subject to availability. Otherwise, the room types available for a specific travel date are what can be booked. This availability can, of course, change over a different date range.

Upcoming Stay

I am SPG Platinum and I have an upcoming stay at this property for late November for 4 nights before moving on to the IC Thalasso for 5 nights.

Travelling for my 40th Birthday.

I am booked into a Reefside Villa on SPG50 rate (only room available) on this rate.

I have some questions about my stay and the hotel:

1. Does anybody have email contact details to contact the hotel directly?
2. Any comments on the Villas, where are they located? I have an OWB at the IC Thalasso, I wanted to see if it was worth going for an OWB. Also seems the Villas are a lot larger than the OWB's.
3. Transportation to Hotel FROM BOB Airport - Does this have to be pre-booked?
4. Does the hotel have a gift shop where they sell water / chips etc, I know will be pricey but still should be cheaper than Minibar.
5. Internet - How is it? Can it be used to watch Netflix for example?

  1. Think the contact info is on their website; beware, somewhat slow to respond
  2. The Reef villas are on the ocean side of the reef/island the hotel is built on. All the overwater bungalows are on the lagoon side (you are on a ring surrounding the central island). The rooms are a bit shady. though most have pools as I recall. The overwater bungalows are huge to begin with so size would not be my deciding factor. I always camp in my room rather than using the central pool area because they are so nice (I have never stayed in the deluxe/superiors, only the premier and royal but they entry overwater's look great too). If you prefer central pool / beach, then no need, if not, then upgrade as I feel like the reef property is relatively dark for just hanging about given the tree cover / orientation.
  3. You pay for the transport to/from the airport as part of the bill (tacked on as a mandatory charge). Just tell hotel what flight you are on and either the big or small yacht will be waiting (door to door; very easy)
  4. Yes there is gift shop with the basics including sunscreen, though there are also free dispensors by the main pool. Prices are not terrible
  5. Internet is fine depending on the room (ie how close to the repeater). I have streamed netflix from there fine, though again, I suspect this might very from room to room given the size of the property.

As a side note, November is low season. Decent chance of an upgrade as a platinum

Many thanks for the info.

I forgot to add travelling with a 16 month infant.

Would you reccomend a Villa or OWB bearing this in mind?

I really do like the look of the Premier Villas with pool or tub.

Also how would be the best way to get from the ST Regis to The IC.

Seeing as they are pretty close who should i contact to arrange the transportation?
