jsg143, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin are approximately 9 miles southwest of Sheraton's Vistana Villages. The property does have complimentary transportation to and from the Disney theme parks, but you would have to contact them to get the schedule.

Call 407-238-5000, fax 407-238-5005, or send an email to [email protected].

Sheraton Vistina Villages Orlando

Has anyone had any experience at this property? What's it like? Quality? I'm finding rates as low as $109 a night online -- seems too good to be true.

Very high quality place to stay. The only thing is they may require you to attend a time sharing promotion.

I stayed at a Vistana resort in St. Augustine for a week in July. It was a wonderful property, the staff was great.

The only problem is that SPG benefits do not apply at Starwood's vacation ownership properties. See http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum74/HTML/001733.html for more information.

If you're going to Orlando, I highly reccomend the Westin Grand Bohemian.

I travel to Orlando quite frequently and I've decided to book my future stays at the Westin. It's the only luxury hotel outside of the attractions area and it's a beautiful hotel. The staff is friendly and accomodating.

Plus, you'll earn the 1k per day as well as normal stay credits towards elite status.

www.hoteldiscounts.com currently lists the Westin for $99.95 per night.

Good luck, have fun in Orlando!

-Robert

This also might be nice to know for future Orlando travel planning:

THE LUXURIOUS WESTIN GRAND BOHEMIAN RECEIVES STELLAR RATING THREE MONTHS IN A ROW AS NUMBER ONE IN GUEST SATISFACTION

NEWS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ORLANDO, FL (November 2001) – The numbers are in! Nice property! Not very convenient to WDW. You have to drive and park (at least 20-30 minutes). I would rather stay closer.

Sales agents who called and solicited for me to stay out and out lied about the locations convenience, proximity to restaurants, and shuttles to WDW, etc.

Had to write, call and ask for the promised Starwood points for timeshare talk.

Orlando Vistana properties [Master Thread]

Last january I stayed at Sheraton's Vistana Villages, a Starwood Vacation Ownership Property, in Orlando for 6 nights and received no points.
When I made my reservation by Starwood's web site there was a special notice informing that for this stay I would't be credit as usual, but only with 1.000 Starwood points per stay.
When I contacted SPG and the Hotel, they informed that points are eventually credit for some rates (Levels 1 and 2). How possibly could I know the "Level" rate ??
So be careful and confirm the points to be credit for each rate at this kind of property before check-in !

A good reminder every now and then is a healthy thing.

This information is also available at the hotel's web site at sheraton.com under Hotel Services:

Preferred Guest members may earn 1,000 Starpoints on qualified rate stays at this Starwood Vacation Ownership Resort and can redeem Starpoints for a 50% Off Award for future stays. Standard Preferred Guest benefits and award airline miles for rental stays are not available at this resort. This property participates in airline programs in special bonus promotions, which occur on a limited basis. For more details, please see Starwood Preferred Guest Terms & Conditions.

Sorry your rate didn't qualify, rserson, but a quick call to the Customer Contact Center nearest you could have provided the missing information you required.

Sincerely,

William R. Sanders

Would a Best Available Rate qualify for the points, William? How can I tell in advance?

Yes, I agree that it's too late. I wish you had seen this before you booked your stay there. The good thing about finding out now is that you can prevent this from being an issue for yourself in the future and it helps others to understand it as well.

We've discussed this before many times. Once I find a past thread that addresses it, I will post it here.

If you are anxious to know if a rate qualifies, call the Customer Contact Center nearest you and ask.

Sincerely,

Sheraton Vistana Resort, Orlando Florida

I have just booked a reservation for 10 nights arriving in may at the Sheraton Vistana Resort, in Florida. Can anyone tell me about this place, I've heard rumors about some sections being really shabby. Also does anyone know anything about shuttle service to the Orlando parks. Please let me know as much as possible because I also have a reservation at the Summerfield Suites down the street which I have been to before and is very nice but the rate is $40 higher although it does have free transportation to the parks.

Thanks

I was in Orlando for other than pleasure reasons...The one problem I found with this property was the noise...Between units, and from the motor driven golf carts the staff drive around...It's like being in bangkok. The noise level from both was to the point where I had to call guest services. I am to be comped. points for the inconveniance.

Aside from the noise the rest of the property is very nice. Public areas, grounds, rooms/units are very well done.

Too bad they did not build with block and sure wish they would get rid of the two cycle golf carts.

BTW I understand they have trans. to the parks...

Why not give them a call.

Have a very nice stay.

Regards,

Stayed with my family at Vistana, several years ago, when it was strictly a timeshare property and prior to Starwood affiliation (ownership?)
2 bdr. units were nice and well-kept. People at front desk very helpful and accomodating. They did have a free shuttle to Disney, but as I recall the schedule was not very convenient (at least for us).
