I was just here last week and they have 3 brand spanking new LIGHTNING FAST Dell computers with huge LCD monitors in the lobby area for guests to use. ^^^^
There was also a plaque next to them mentioning the new "Sheraton Link'd" or something like that. I guess they probably have free wireless as well in the lobby as a bunch of people were sitting around the lobby working on their laptops.
The great thing is that these computers are normal computers that allow one to open up 2 or more (gasp) browser windows at once, unlike the old computers. The 3 old computers towards the back are also still there, with the same slow connection they've always had.
Two thumbs up to Sheraton Phoenix Airport for this great upgrade: ^ ^

Before eating at this property I suggest people read the latest (3/23/2009) health department inspection report where there were 9 violations cited, 4 of them being major. The hotel was given 40 points (demerits) for this. This puts them as rated in the lower 24 percentile or lower of food establishments of their type. http://www.maricopa.gov/EnvSvc/EnvHe...itScoring.aspx

Awful stay - bad karma!
Will post more details later, but wanted to report that -- whatever could go wrong, pretty much did, on a two night stay this past weekend (for the FT MR seminar!).

Ended up here for the weekend with a Hotwire booking. Not a good hotel for a number of reasons. The biggest issue was room cleanliness. We didn't pull back the shower curtain until morning, and then found that the shower wall had extensive, active black mildew. I'd say 40-50 inches of grout featured this. (And it wasn't the gray stain sometimes left behind when mildew is cleaned.) From the pattern I suspect that there is a leak somewhere, but that's just a guess. A problem of this kind doesn't develop in a day or even a week, especially in a climate like Phoenix's, so the housekeeping supervisor gets a big thumbs down on this one. Particularly in a hotel with a high vacancy rate, why wouldn't you pull this room from service at the first sign of the problem and fix it? I advised the front desk of the problem and told them that we were going out to breakfast and would return in about 2 hours. Came back to find the room in the same condition, no message waiting. Called the front desk back, and at that point they advised me that they couldn't resolve the problem without regrouting, and suggested I switch rooms. After a bit they brought new room keys, but they didn't offer any assistance relocating luggage from floor to floor.
The next room had clean tile, but the soap dish (which has a plastic insert) still had dried soap goop from a prior guest. Since the rest of the room was clean I decided to keep this room and live with it.
The bed was very nice, linens were fine, but the pillows had seen much better days. Maybe years. Balcony furniture had grit on it, and the cement balcony was graced by holes about 1 1/2 inches in diameter roughly drilled, apparently to allow water to drain since they seem to have failed to grade the cement away from the building. Rooms on the second and third floor facing the pool have sliding doors and balconies, though rooms x18 and x20 are immediately over the unit with the pool pump and equipment with a view much like looking in the back end of a dumpster enclosure. Rooms on the first floor pool level are hermetically sealed with no access to the pool area and no operable windows, apparently to keep children safe. Same for the fourth floor club rooms, though I don't know why those didn't get balconies.
The pool itself was nice, but the pool towels were very skimpy and several were nearly threadbare. There was one on each lounger, but as the towels were used I didn't see anyone putting more out, and people often needed a second towel and so would take one from a vacant chair. Towels seem to be a bit of an issue at this hotel -- the room featured only two bath size towels; again not too big, and two smallish hand towels.
The hotel itself is located in the midst of a mid-range business park very close to PHX. But, on the very good side, there is virtually no aircraft noise, because the flight pattern is to the north of the hotel. There is absolutely nothing of interest in the immediate hotel area, and you definitely need a car unless you're just there for an overnight. Even once out of the office park you need to drive to find much of anything. I never saw a cab. Hotel staff wasn't able to suggest much in the way of a good Mexican restaurant. No newspapers were available at 9:30 on Saturday morning. Wireless is a $9.95 charge for a 24 hour period.
I regret not picking the Scottsdale choice, but since we were trying to be somewhat closer to ASU, we chose the Tempe location, and we won't make that mistake again. This particular Sheraton does not do credit to the brand. I'd rather drive farther and have a nicer place to stay. If you want an airport property, surely there are better. If you want to be in a *wood property and close to ASU, the 4 Points Tempe is not as fancy but features very clean rooms and a very helpful and friendly staff. And no mildew.

I will first state that the property's physical condition will not impress anyone. Although the lobby is well-remodeled, the remaining parts of the hotel are worn and tired. The gym is inadequate for a Sheraton although I do not know what standards Starwood has established for Sheraton gyms. They have free weights but no weight machines. The gym is cramped and does not have ancillary equipment such as exercise balls or mats for sit-ups.
Although the Club Lounge was closed, I could open it with my key card. Initially ecstatic to see yogurt and soft drinks through the glass refrigerator door, I quickly realized that the door was locked. Some kind soul did leave granola bars out, so I helped myself to one.
The bathroom had only 1 bar of soap but provided bath gel ^
I have rarely met such helpful and friendly staff. Every single staff member did their utmost to provide excellent service starting with the shuttle driver. At check-in, the clerk inquired about my need for an airport shuttle. He apologized profusely that the Club Lounge is closed on weekends and offered me a bottle of cold water. I had trouble with printing my boarding pass. The same clerk was checking-in another customer but upon seeing me waiting, he addressed me by name and inquired how he could help.
The morning of my departure, I felt surprised to see that the shuttle bus had not yet arrived. I inquired with the front desk who told me the full shuttle had left. Surprisingly, she then told me that the waiting taxi was going to the airport at the hotels. I found this to be very good service recovery.

After a recent stay here, I would have to agree with the previous observations. The hotel is nothing to write home about. The lobby is good and it goes downhill from there.
The room was small, and the bathroom was even smaller. I did not try, but am sure that I could not change my mind in the bathroom. The club lounge was closed and we were provided a coupon to the continental breakfast in the Prickly Cactus (or something like that) resaurant. It turned out to be a hot buffet breakfast but the food was mediocre at best. We did not return for seconds.
The staff were AWESOME. Absolutely no complaints there, from the shuttle bus driver to check-in to check-out. The shuttle bus will take you anywhere within a 3mile radius. That includes the Arizona Mills mall and the few nearby restaurants. The shuttle leaves the hotel every 30min. It is best to order the shuttle at check-in. They record your request by hand on the shuttle calendar.
We will take our luck to another hotel the next time.

Well I've stayed here probably 10-12 times and have never posted a review.
The hotel, as others have noted, will never win any awards for the nicest rooms in a Sheraton, nor for its location - you can't walk to anything and you really have to have a car or be willing to pop for a taxi or try to cajole the shuttle driver into hauling you around.
All that aside, I had the most amazing experience a few weeks back and, thanks to an empowered staff member, turned an annoying situation into a very positive one. I wrote a letter of thanks which I just sent off to the hotel's managers - hopefully this employee is recognized for going above and beyond.
I will say that over the past year or two the hotel has made efforts to improve the guest experience - they've added new bath amenities on the club floor and Internet access is now complimentary hotel-wide (not just in the lobby).
So yeah, the rooms (especially the bathrooms) could use a little love, but all things being equal, the hotel represents a good value, is in a relatively convenient location (if you have a car), and the staff are (at least as of mid 2011) very friendly and helpful.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, and it's my go-to hotel for early morning flights out of PHX.
In the interests of full disclosure, I did have to wait a ridiculously long time for the shuttle from the airport the last time I stayed here - I was quoted 20 minutes and it took 50, all while standing on the curb in 100+ degree heat. The hotel is a 5 minute drive from the airport, so I was unimpressed to say the least. As I now know, cab fare will run about $12 one-way.

I recently stayed here and did the stay and fly deal. You can call the hotel directly and leave your car with them. The rates were changing so call the hotel directly to get the rates. Airport shuttle looked like it was on a scheadule, worst wait was about 30 minutes from calling the hotel.
The hotel itself has a good pool and commons area, but the rooms are a little dated. Not the worst sheraton but it should be updated in within the next 3-4 years IMHO.
They did give out the extras (shower gel/lufa) so not bad. I had an excelent rate AAA that included 25 dollar credit for food. Sadly, didn't check the lounge out due to early flight.
The best thing had to be the service. Spencer F., the night manager was very helpful. He and the staff made a good hotel stress free.
I recomment this hotel if you flying from PHX for an early flight/late return and driving from out of town. We came in from Tucson, and it made the next day travel stress free.

Just finished a stay here, and thought i'd post my 2 cents.
The hotel was all that I would have hoped for from an airport sheraton. Room meet brand standards of what i'd expect from a sheraton in terms of comfort and quality. The bathroom was a little dated (wasn't impressed with the shower) and the rugs all seemed very worn. Garbage and room service trays could have been picked up from the hallway in a more timely fashion. Biggest issue I had was that (at least in my room) the alarm clock was not backlit, so when the lights were off, I couldn't see the time (also the alarm volume was a little low, good i'm a light sleeper). Frustrating to have to check my phone at night for the time.
On the plus side, the staff here was amazing. Front desk was really helpful in finding me good places to eat, and hidden free places to park downtown. I needed a 3:30 AM airport drop off, which was easily coordinated, and ready for me at that hour when I got down there. Staff overall extremely friendly. Big thumbs up.
Good platinum treatment. Upgrade to club level (I don't believe they have any suites). Club lounge was better then average. Decent spread at night with cold and hot dishes and $3 booze. Breakfast had a nice spread with two hot dishes and a typical continental spread
Exercise room was recently redone - 3 treadmills, 2 bikes, 2 ellipticals, 1 wieght machine, free weights, and a mat/rope/ball area. Small but adequate for me, and pretty modern. A fridge had free bottled water, nice touch.
Didn't get to eat at the restaurant, tho had a drink at the bar, which was well stocked. Bartender was friendly.
Overall, a good sheraton airport hotel. Rooms and hotel physically aren't impressing, but the staff was great. 24 shuttle and good price point would get me to return

Service above and Beyond!
I stayed here Saturday night. Hotel is fine, room fine, etc. But the service was really outstanding.
I arrived on a late flight and called the desk as I was walking down the concourse to arrange for the shuttle to pick me up. Also, I inquired about room service as I was really hungry. Desk told me that room service ended at 11pm (it was already 10:45) but he said he would put me through to room service and maybe they would accomodate me, which he did. I explained my problem but that I would be at the hotel in 15 minutes or so. The room service person told me they would be happy to help me. I gave them my order. When I got to the hotel, Desk had my room key, etc ready to go and also had the room service bill. They explained to me that they had already delivered it to my room so that it would be waiting for me.
when I got to the room they had deliverd my hamburger and glasses of milk (my late night habit) and ice cream. they had not only left my milk but an additional amount in a pitcher, which along with the ice cream had been placed in a large bowl of ice to stay cold.
Kudos to the staff. It made my short stay very pleasurable.

Sheraton Tempe (Arizona) Airport Report
Looked for a master thread for this property but was unable to find it. Stayed here this last week as part of a trip to Scottsdale and Phoenix. Making this short, brief, and to the point:
PROS:
Free shuttle from Sky Harbor International airport. Nice driver (Mike). Very helpful with my luggage. Shuttle took me right from the airport terminal to the property.
Staff tried to put forth some effort.
CONS:
The smell in the room left me wondering "what they heck" had been sprayed in the room. I think it was to cover the mold smell.
The room had mold on the baseboards and in the bathroom.
Old furniture in the room
No platinum amenity other than the 500 points (no local amenity)
OVERALL:
I would grade this property a C- and would not recommend staying here unless you need a stay and are at the Phoenix airport for a quick mileage run or stay run. Property is run down, not near things except the airport.

This property is improving
I am updating this thread, based on a $79 weekend overnight stay in December.
The shuttle from Sky Harbor was great. I called the hotel, and the staff member offered to contact the driver by radio and hold the bus for me. The next day, the shuttle driver offered to drop me at the 44th Street Light Rail Station, and both saved me a lot of time.
The SPG lounge on the 4th is open late (8 pm) and - as others have reported - had decent hors d'oeuvres - potato salad, fresh fruit, and tacos. My room (also on the 4th) was comfortable, and the WIFI was lightning fast (again, as others have said).
In the am, the lounge is open for brekkie until 9 am and has both hot and cold offerings. No specialty coffees (e.g. lattes) which was disappointing.
The condition of the carpets and some of the common areas are very dated. I was told during my stay that the property is under new ownership and renovations are planned (wait and see?).
The exercise area is slightly bigger than the SPG standard, and well used. The outdoor pool is nothing special and I did not use.
Overall, good value for overnights at Sky Harbor.
