Four Points Galerias Monterrey, Mexico [Master Thread]
Have not been to Monterrey for a year and just booked the 4 Points Galleria.
Has anyone stayed here? If so, let me know what to expect. Free wifi?

I just returned from a one night stay at this new property.
This property is a WOW! And this comes from a Platinum that has stayed with Starwood on 4 continents.
The property is located on the west side of town across the street from the Moneterrey Galleria shopiing center.
The building is brand new with 14 floors. Free wifi in all rooms. Free parking.
As a platinum I was upgraded to a corner suite.
This place is great and so much nicer than the Sheraton Ambassador downtown which is showing its age.

Bump again. I may decide to stay here a few times this summer. Is it in a safe area? And, if you've been to the doubletree (I know, not an SPG) there - how does it compare in terms of location, amenities and SAFETY.
Monterrey has seen a large uptick in drug cartel related violence and, while the average tourist or business traveler should be ok, it's not as safe as it was a few years ago.
Comments?

I am headed to MTY in a few days and curious if anyone has been recently to either this property or the original Sheraton Ambassador downtown/centro. I am nervous when I only see one room photo on a Starwood property website.

I'd be more nervous regarding the overall security situation in Monterrey than the rooms at the Four Points. Be careful.

Thanks for the concern, I will call the Canadian Consulate-General there tomorrow to double-check if any areas are worse than others within the city. The horrific events of that casino fire a number of weeks ago still weigh on my mind a bit, but I am not the type of traveller to stay home or head to Hawaii either.

Spoke to a consular officer at our Consulate-General in Monterrey today and was advised to spend more of my time across the river in the San Pedro area if at all possible and take radio taxis only - not dissimilar to advice I would receive concerning DF. I will be street smart and enjoy the concert on Saturday night, not about to let the narco gangs win.
