Arrow SPG Gold lounge access or not?

I recently linked my MR and SPG and got SPG Gold based on my MR Lifetime Gold. The SPG rep on the phone told me that lounge access was included for Golds and I made a Sheraton reservation. Today I called the hotel to confirm lounge access and they said that its only for Plats. I looked into the Gold benefits on SPG website and it doesnt list lounge access.

I am just annoyed that why I was given wrong info by the SPG rep? I couldve made a Marriott reservation at that time but decided to try Sheraton instead. Any advice if they'll match the Marriott Gold benefit of lounge access?

You can always ask at the front desk but I wouldn't expect it.

The hotel and the website is correct. Lounge access is a platinum benefit.
The programs are separate, do not expect them cross honor benefits. Based on occupancy, you could be upgraded to the club level, which would entitle you to lounge access. You were given wrong information, because humans make mistakes or there could be a lack of training, however, you looked yourself and knew access so this isn't a big deal.

Do you have the SPG Business card? If so, you get lounge access at all Sheraton branded properties. If not, then just cancel the SPG reservation and re-book at Marriott. If it was a nonrefundable reservation, just tell them that a phone rep told you that you would get access and they will probably make a one time exception

Hi tashi,

It sounds like you were given a wrong information, indeed.
Can you PM or email us your account/stay details? We'd like to follow up on this.

some properties give lounge access to Golds. Most don't.

Agree that it's probably the norm that SPG/Marriott Golds don't get lounge access at SPG properties, but for SPG Golds that linked to Marriott & stay at Marriott full-service properties they would get lounge access or free brekkie if there wasn't a lounge or the lounge was closed.

Cheers.

Since the SPG Business gives lounge access, when the programs fully combine will this benefit carry over if Amex is the only card, a co-card with Chase, and will Chase's Marriott Business card give lounge access, as a co-card or the only one?

I do not believe anyone here can answer those questions. Nothing has been announced.

OT, but...

I'm a Marriott LTP who has connected my accounts and done some toe-in-the-water SPG stays. There are some things Marriott does better than SPG, and some things SPG does better than Marriott. But this is a big one and SPG does it right, Marriott does it wrong....

It has been years since I remember a Marriott Rep being on FT. I've seen SPG reps jump in several times. It's appreciated. Hopefully with the merger of the two programs this company involvement will continue. Marriott has moved its corporate participation entirely to its own Website, where it can control what's posted.

Thank you again, SPG, for having a presence on FT.

I agree. The Lurkers are a tremendous asset to both Starwood and their customers. They are able to make customers more informed and thus happier which results in return business.

We should have a Starwood Lurkers Appreciation Day!

Kind of linked and don't want to start another thread.

If upgraded to a club room should lounge access be provided or is that at hotel discretion?

Is the welcome amenity per room (you can credit 3 rooms per night) or just 1 room gets them?
