Does the name on the SPG account have to match the name on the Amex credit card to receive points? I understand that this bonus is only available to those who have never had this card before. My wife has never had this card before, but we accumulate all points in my account. Since SPG allows family transfers I guess I could just set her up an account and then move the points into my account, but wanted to see if I could just skip the step and put my Starwood number into her SPG Amex account?

Thank you. For those who are also interested in Marriott, this beats out the Marriott credit card offers, offering around 120k points after transferring to Marriott once you spend the required $5k total

Is there a dedicated line for SPG applications @ AMEX?

I applied today, received instant approval, and was given the opportunity to receive my card number instantly. That process hung when I attempted to download the Tc&Cs, so I called to see if they could actually just go ahead and expedite delivery of the card since I'm starting a vacation on Saturday and could probably knock out most of the spend requirement in a matter of days. Overseas call center insisted this is strictly not possible, and "no you can't speak to a supervisor, because even they and their bosses do not have the authority to override the 10-day lock automatically placed on new accounts." I fired AMEX years ago for their horrendous customer service, and it doesn't seem as if they've been any improvements in the interim.

Of course they did, because I just applied for the 25K card last week. Bad timing on my part, great offer for new accounts.

No chance for a UK equivalent offer, I gather. I have no skin in the game, as got the card in December ...
