Room Booked: standard twin
Room Received: Deluxe Diplomat Twin*
Award Stay: Yes
BRG Stay: No
SNA Redeemed: Attempted (see below)

Comments: Redeemed 12K points/night. Booked a standard twin bedded room. When option was made available to request an upgrade using SNA, checked the box for a Statesman Suite with twin beds only. 5 days out upgrade was confirmed. Received the welcome email from the Butler and shared all of the stay details requested. I was also clear that we needed a room with two beds as I was traveling with my sister for her birthday. Butler confirmed we were blocked in a suite with 2 beds. Upon arrival, was asked if we wanted 1 or 2 beds and when told we needed 2 beds was given a Diplomat room. Got to the room - nowhere near being a suite, emailed Butler to express disappointment, asking why we didn't get the suite we had been confirmed in. Got a call back and was told there are only 4 twin bedded suites in hotel and a guest in one of them had extended their stay. We were offered an upgrade to a suite with a king and a rollaway or stay in the Diplomat Room. We opted to stay put since we would be touring both days we were in Beijing. Had to ask to get SNA's back - which SPG customer service said they agreed to do.

Property: Sheraton Grand Palace Gangnam, Seoul, RoK
Date(s): A few nights in mid-February
Room booked: Deluxe 2 single beds
Room received: Club King Studio Suite (upgraded night before according to online reservation - I did ask for an upgrade via the email I got from the hotel the week before I arrived)
Award stay: no
BRG stay: no
SNAs redeemed: Not a clue what SNA is so will go with no
Comments: This is my first "automatic" upgrade since becoming SPG Plat through Marriott. I started another thread about upgrades in the SPG program and how I'm always told my "suite upgrade request" doesn't stick as a platinum. I put automatic in quotes because technically I asked for the upgrade a week before arrival after the hotel emailed me asking for my arrival and departure times. If the email exchange hadn't happened I do not know if I would have been upgraded or not.

Room booked: Beachfront Deluxe (lowest option)
Room received: Club Water Bungalow
Award stay: (yes/no), type (C+P, FAN, FWN, FRN, SPG50, etc.) No
BRG stay: (yes/no) No
SNAs redeemed: (yes/no) No - Request for Beachfront Cottage was rejected
Comments:
Took advantage of the Unlimited package promotion offered at end of 2016. E-mailed hotel in advance indicating that we were celebrating our anniversary. Upgraded to Bungalow at check-in, even though Friday appeared to be sold out. Needed to transfer to another room prior to noon on last day to accommodate new guest checking in. Mohamed at check-in was very friendly and joked that the SNA rejection e-mail was a fake e-mail. A wonderful stay all around!

Comments: Extremely impressed with the hotel and with the UG. Both this 2 BR as well as the 1BR Long Stay Suite we were assigned over our 2 stays had en suite washer and dryers. A huge saving on laundry bills.
The Lounge now includes lunch as well as breakfast and evening appetizers. There was a revolving choice of hot and cold local dishes at all three meals. The staff were accommodating and friendly. My wife loved the smoked trout breakfast bagel made to order each day.
The price was a little high, although the hotel was swamped with UNASUR Election Observers there both before and after the Feb 19 Ecuadorian Presidential Election. It seemed that the Sheraton was their HQ.

Comments: street/city view. In spite of the name the suite had fairly limited window area. Res showed this room type pre-assigned more than 24 hours before check in.

Notes: Got what seemed like a one-level upgrade to an accessible room. Whatever, didn't care much either way.

Notes: Got a meh upgrade; but after a major incident with the hotel (where they walked in unannounced on a girl sleeping alone in the room at night) they upgraded to a suite as an apology. Disappointed they didn't upgrade right away, and disappointed with the awful experience at this hotel.

Property: Sheraton Universal

Room booked: cheapest (2 queens)

Notes: This hotel is a dump. My room, if upgraded, was not impressive at all. Would not stay here again.

Comments: This property always upgrades if suites are available. This was one of the nicest suites of many that I have received here, in that it has been recently renovated. Tasteful modern decor, seperate sitting room and bathroom with deep soaker/ jacuzzi tub and a 2 person 2 head shower.

Comments: Great suite overlooking the Old Town nightlife district. Windows opened which I thought was a nice touch. Nice pull-out couch as well. Platinum breakfast served through in-room dining.

Comments: First time staying here and really liked the property. Had requested a yoga mat in my room and it was nicely laid out with a candle and matches along with a tray of sliced fruits and cucumbers to drink with water. Really appreciated that they took my simple healthy request to such a high level. The suite was great but showing signs of age. View of the sunrise from the 25th floor was spectacular! Also, the clear glass shower was pretty cool ( even if I was there alone) but I can see how some people might not like it.

Lastly, the plat amenity for breakfast here is $25 at the restaurant Trace which more than covers both the buffet an a la carte options.

Comments: This hotel has history and maybe some charm but needs to be renovated. The gym in hotel's basement - wow - could be used as a torture chamber that Donald Trump would be proud of (Maybe I should have stayed at The Sense Hotel instead, rather than switching to here at last minute)
