SPG DOUBLE TAKE PROMOTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Registration: Starwood Preferred Guest® Members must register online at spg.com/doubletake by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), March 15, 2017. Registered members can earn bonus Starpoints® on eligible stays between January 16, 2017, and April 15, 2017 (the "Promotion Period"), at hotels and resorts in the SPG® program.

Earning: Registered members will earn double Starpoints at participating hotels and resorts on eligible stays of one or more nights for their first three stays within the earning period. Members who earn double Starpoints will earn an additional two (2) Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of four [4] Starpoints per dollar). Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar earnings are doubled. After the third stay, registered members may be eligible to earn five thousand (5,000) bonus Starpoints after ten (10) nights, plus an additional five hundred (500) bonus Starpoints per additional night up to five thousand (5,000) Starpoints for a total of ten thousand (10,000) bonus Starpoints or twenty (20) nights. Offer is eligible with other Starpoints promotions; however, each offer will award bonus Starpoints independently of each other, and offers are not combinable.

Bonusing: The bonus Starpoints will post to the registered member's account within 2 to 4 weeks after the qualifying stay posts.

Eligible stays and nights: An eligible stay is defined as one or more consecutive nights paying an eligible rate in the same hotel, regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur, and posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account. An eligible night is defined as at least one night paying an eligible rate in the Promotion Period. An eligible rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest program. A description of eligible stays and eligible rates can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions. See Section 2.1 for the complete definition of eligible rates. Note that certain prepaid room reservations — such as when the booking is made through a third party, including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com, orbitz.com and delta.com — are not considered eligible rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify for promotional earnings. Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. Stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the Member’s account.

All promotions are subject to the Starwood Preferred Guest program terms and conditions, which are subject to change without notice and can be found at spg.com. Offer is applicable to individual members only and not to groups. Not responsible for omissions or typographical errors. SPG reserves the right to discontinue this offer at any time. Promotion FAQ

When can I register for the promotion?

SPG Members can register December 15, 2016, through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), March 15, 2017.

What are the dates for earning bonus Starpoints®?

Each registered SPG Member can earn bonus Starpoints for eligible paid stays from January 16, 2017, through April 15, 2017.

Can anyone register for this promotion?

Any Member can register at spg.com/doubletake. A nonmember can join the SPG program and register simultaneously, also at spg.com/doubletake.

Will eligible stays or nights prior to registration count toward my earning?

Yes. As long as the Member registers by March 15, 2017, any eligible paid stays or nights from January 16, 2017, through April 15, 2017, will count toward earning.

How do I earn double Starpoints?

A registered member will earn double Starpoints on eligible stays of one or more nights for the first three stays within the earning period at any hotel or resort in the SPG program.

At which hotels and resorts am I eligible to earn double Starpoints?

A member can earn SPG Double Take Starpoints at any hotel or resort in the SPG program. This includes our more than 1,300 hotels and resorts across 11 distinctive brands worldwide — St. Regis®, Luxury Collection®, W®, Le Méridien®, Westin®, Sheraton®, Tribute Portfolio™, Design Hotels®, Aloft®, Element℠ and Four Points®.

What qualifies as an eligible paid stay for double Starpoints?

An eligible paid stay includes one or more nights, at any hotel or resort in the SPG program, paying a qualifying rate that earns Starpoints as defined by the terms and conditions of the SPG program (spg.com/t&c).

What qualifies as an eligible paid night for the SPG® Double Take bonus?

An eligible paid night includes at least one night paying a qualifying rate, at a hotel or resort in the SPG program, during the promotion period.

Can I book through a third party and earn bonus Starpoints?

Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. This is the only way to earn bonus Starpoints and get our best rates. Stays booked through prepaid, third-party channels — such as orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, delta.com, etc. — are not eligible Rate Plans, so the Member will not earn bonus Starpoints and will not qualify for the offer. A description of a Starpoints-eligible channel can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions, section 2.1.

How many Starpoints do I earn with double Starpoints?

With double Starpoints, a member will earn 4 total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base 2 Starpoints-per-dollar earnings are doubled.

If part of my stay was reserved using a Free Night Award or Cash & Points, will my stay qualify?

No. Stays booked with Free Night Awards or Cash & Points do not count as qualifying stays for this promotion. Even if part of the stay is reserved using an Award and part is paid, the member will not receive bonus Starpoints for any part of the stay.

If I check in before the promotion period begins or check out after the promotion period ends, but some of my stay is during the promotion period, does my stay earn the bonus?

Yes. As long as one night of the eligible stay is within the promotion period, bonus Starpoints will be earned (even if part of the stay falls outside the promotion period). Stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the member’s account.

When will double Starpoints post to my account?

Double Starpoints will post to the registered member's account within two to four weeks of each eligible paid stay posting. Please note that stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the member’s account and not all bonuses will post at the same time.

Will I earn stay and night credits toward elite status?

A member will earn stay and night credits as he or she normally does while earning Starpoints.

Can I take advantage of other bonus promotions at the same time?

Yes. However, each promotion earns bonuses independently of each other.

What confuses me about this crappy promotion is that you get nothing else beyond the first 3 stays despite what the email confirmation says. I had 7 stays (each 4 nights), and only got the 500 points for the first 3 stays.

I received 1,500 out of the full 5,000 four weeks ago, but nothing ever since. The dashboard has been showing the full 5,000 for weeks now, but nothing has been posted to the account.
I haven't received anything beyond the first three night double points bonuses. The SPG Dashboard also shows me achieving all the bonus thresholds. I think I'm still within the 2-4 weeks period for the bonus points to post though as the stay achieving the last threshold only posted on Apr 10.

How so? They don't seem to have paid out the second part yet for many.

Same here, still awaiting the 10k. I'm 17 days after the last stay...so just have to wait I guess. The lurkers have done an amazing job trying to sort out and explain things. Hope I don't need to bother them again in 11 days with this issue...but I'm feeling this is what is going to happen.

That was indeed the worst promotion ever. I can imagine how some staffs at SPG must have had short nights for weeks, ad bad dreams! Sad reality, I hope this will be going for the better on next promotion, if we get one!

I agree that from an organisational point of view, this was a horrible promotion. I hope that Starwood marketing has either learned their lesson or that Starwood IT has achieved some veto rights in the future.

Here's the screenshot from my promo status:

The funny thing is that they correctly list all the three point categories (2,060 - 5,000 - 5,000), but mention only a total of 8,560 points. Only those 8,560 points have been posted to my account until now.

Is that a glitch in the system or as intended?

I think you'll eventually end up with 12,060 points so looks like you're missing 4,000 points from your last 8 stays.

In my case, all I've received are the "Double Points Earned" and the total reflects that. I still haven't seen any from the second threshold which for me was 20 nights for 10K points or the third threshold which was 500 points per night up to 10 nights/5K points. So as of now, I'm waiting for 15K points as part of this promo. Ultimately, I'll just be patient and hope this gets sorted out.

Just out of interest, how have the points posted to your account so far, to make up the 8,560 ?

I think this entire promo went badly. Too much was up for interpretation -- just the fact alone that the 2nd part of this hasn't been awarded says a lot. They need to just keep it simple.

I do agree with another poster that this actually encourages stays elsewhere after the first three stays.

The 2,060 points came in intervals for each of the first three stays.

The 5,000 four the second batch came in en bulk.

And then came in another 1,500 points for the third batch two days after the 5,000 points from the second batch. That was one month ago.

Howdy,
I hope this question hasnt already been answered, but after a skim through 20 pages I didnt see it come up.

I signed up for the double take bonus that offered 10k pts after 20 nights and 500 pts for each additional up to 15k pts total.

looking at my dashboard i see where I got bonus points for my first three stays, but the total nigh credits I had were only 17 nights out of 20 needed minimum. I had assumed this was a delay in posting nights as promotional bonuses sometimes take longer to credit than normal points. I spoke to an SPG plat rep and they said they weren't sure why the nights didn't credit and I should email research. I had stayed a total of 31 nights during the promotional period.

I got an email back from research today saying that the 20 night counter only starts AFTER your first three stays, in other words the 10k bonus is NOT after 3 stays and 20 nights, it's after 3 stays PLUS 20 nights.

Is this what people were expecting and or seeing in their own spg dashboards?

I went out of my way and gave starwoods 41 nights this year by early April and feel a bit like a chump now.

TIA

Stan

Edit: maybe I should have read the first page better, not just the wiki and the last few pages.... heh

SPG people, the wording of this promo sucks.

Howdy, and welcome to Flyertalk and the SPG forum. ^

Sorry that the circumstances of your first post aren't happy ones, and the bad news is that the 20 nights counter only starts once the first 3 stays are completed, irrespective of how many nights there were in those 3 stays.

The ambiguity in the wording was noted and discussed here right at the start of the promotion, and post #7 upthread is SPG's confirmation of the official position. If its any consolation, you're not the only one who has been misled.

Howdy back, and thanks

Yeah I just noticed that after posting. I'm noticing a lot now that I have found you guys, seems like there is a wealth of info here!

I have more than just a night or two under my belt with spg, and despite things like having a pair of workmen walk in to the room WHILE they knocked when my partner was alone and in the bath even though there was a DND on the door (they rang the room first, but she didn't answer since she was in the bath) at the le meridien picadilly and getting bloodied when a chunk of ceiling fell down out of nowhere at the great northern in london Ive always taken a pretty laid back attitude with little bumps in the road. but this really has gotten me mad

I haven't got the 2nd part, either. I think I got 20 nights out of the way on Apr. 6 and had extra nights throughout April 15. I am not sure if the waiting period is 2-4 weeks after April 15 though.

This is just the way their dashboard was designed -- they didn't think this through. Looks like they just sum up the pointed that have gone through to your account, not the ones that you are due to receive (which is in case would be 12,060).
