SPG DOUBLE TAKE PROMOTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Registration: Starwood Preferred Guest® Members must register online at spg.com/doubletake by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), March 15, 2017. Registered members can earn bonus Starpoints® on eligible stays between January 16, 2017, and April 15, 2017 (the "Promotion Period"), at hotels and resorts in the SPG® program.

Earning: Registered members will earn double Starpoints at participating hotels and resorts on eligible stays of one or more nights for their first three stays within the earning period. Members who earn double Starpoints will earn an additional two (2) Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of four [4] Starpoints per dollar). Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar earnings are doubled. After the third stay, registered members may be eligible to earn five thousand (5,000) bonus Starpoints after ten (10) nights, plus an additional five hundred (500) bonus Starpoints per additional night up to five thousand (5,000) Starpoints for a total of ten thousand (10,000) bonus Starpoints or twenty (20) nights. Offer is eligible with other Starpoints promotions; however, each offer will award bonus Starpoints independently of each other, and offers are not combinable.

Bonusing: The bonus Starpoints will post to the registered member's account within 2 to 4 weeks after the qualifying stay posts.

Eligible stays and nights: An eligible stay is defined as one or more consecutive nights paying an eligible rate in the same hotel, regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur, and posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account. An eligible night is defined as at least one night paying an eligible rate in the Promotion Period. An eligible rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest program. A description of eligible stays and eligible rates can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions. See Section 2.1 for the complete definition of eligible rates. Note that certain prepaid room reservations — such as when the booking is made through a third party, including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com, orbitz.com and delta.com — are not considered eligible rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify for promotional earnings. Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. Stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the Member’s account.

All promotions are subject to the Starwood Preferred Guest program terms and conditions, which are subject to change without notice and can be found at spg.com. Offer is applicable to individual members only and not to groups. Not responsible for omissions or typographical errors. SPG reserves the right to discontinue this offer at any time. Promotion FAQ

When can I register for the promotion?

SPG Members can register December 15, 2016, through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), March 15, 2017.

What are the dates for earning bonus Starpoints®?

Each registered SPG Member can earn bonus Starpoints for eligible paid stays from January 16, 2017, through April 15, 2017.

Can anyone register for this promotion?

Any Member can register at spg.com/doubletake. A nonmember can join the SPG program and register simultaneously, also at spg.com/doubletake.

Will eligible stays or nights prior to registration count toward my earning?

Yes. As long as the Member registers by March 15, 2017, any eligible paid stays or nights from January 16, 2017, through April 15, 2017, will count toward earning.

How do I earn double Starpoints?

A registered member will earn double Starpoints on eligible stays of one or more nights for the first three stays within the earning period at any hotel or resort in the SPG program.

At which hotels and resorts am I eligible to earn double Starpoints?

A member can earn SPG Double Take Starpoints at any hotel or resort in the SPG program. This includes our more than 1,300 hotels and resorts across 11 distinctive brands worldwide — St. Regis®, Luxury Collection®, W®, Le Méridien®, Westin®, Sheraton®, Tribute Portfolio™, Design Hotels®, Aloft®, Element℠ and Four Points®.

What qualifies as an eligible paid stay for double Starpoints?

An eligible paid stay includes one or more nights, at any hotel or resort in the SPG program, paying a qualifying rate that earns Starpoints as defined by the terms and conditions of the SPG program (spg.com/t&c).

What qualifies as an eligible paid night for the SPG® Double Take bonus?

An eligible paid night includes at least one night paying a qualifying rate, at a hotel or resort in the SPG program, during the promotion period.

Can I book through a third party and earn bonus Starpoints?

Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. This is the only way to earn bonus Starpoints and get our best rates. Stays booked through prepaid, third-party channels — such as orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, delta.com, etc. — are not eligible Rate Plans, so the Member will not earn bonus Starpoints and will not qualify for the offer. A description of a Starpoints-eligible channel can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions, section 2.1.

How many Starpoints do I earn with double Starpoints?

With double Starpoints, a member will earn 4 total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base 2 Starpoints-per-dollar earnings are doubled.

If part of my stay was reserved using a Free Night Award or Cash & Points, will my stay qualify?

No. Stays booked with Free Night Awards or Cash & Points do not count as qualifying stays for this promotion. Even if part of the stay is reserved using an Award and part is paid, the member will not receive bonus Starpoints for any part of the stay.

If I check in before the promotion period begins or check out after the promotion period ends, but some of my stay is during the promotion period, does my stay earn the bonus?

Yes. As long as one night of the eligible stay is within the promotion period, bonus Starpoints will be earned (even if part of the stay falls outside the promotion period). Stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the member’s account.

When will double Starpoints post to my account?

Double Starpoints will post to the registered member's account within two to four weeks of each eligible paid stay posting. Please note that stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the member’s account and not all bonuses will post at the same time.

Will I earn stay and night credits toward elite status?

A member will earn stay and night credits as he or she normally does while earning Starpoints.

Can I take advantage of other bonus promotions at the same time?

Yes. However, each promotion earns bonuses independently of each other.

Also worth noting that the Marriott version is a 3:1 mirror image of the SPG promo, and that the ambiguity in the 'starting to count nights after the 3rd stay or not' wording has confused MR members too.

I got the 20 night promo on SPG and the 10 night promo with Marriott. I typically spend more nights with Marriott so I have no idea why I received the 20 night promo. I would have prefered to receive the 10 night promo on SPG and there is no chance I would have enough nights during the promo period. For me this is the slowest time of year.

Post SPG Double Take

We are excited to officially announce the newest SPG global promotion, SPG® Double Take. From January 16, 2017 through April 15, 2017, you can earn double Starpoints on your first three stays at all hotels and resorts in the SPG program — no exceptions. Plus, during registration you’ll unlock an extra Double Take bonus to earn even more bonus Starpoints.

Registration begins today and runs through March 15, 2017 at spg.com/doubletake.

Additionally, for the first time, SPG, Marriott Rewards, and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards are offering their members the same promotional opportunity at the same time.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Best regards,

I registered on my dashboard this morning and received the 20 nights / 10,000 points offer. I just received an email inviting me to join SPG and get the 10 night / 5,000 point offer. I'm already a member of course, but would have preferred the latter offer.

I got this offer after registering:

Earn double Starpoints® on your first three stays. Plus, earn an additional 15,000 Starpoints with our special SPG Double Take bonus.

Starting on your fourth stay:

• Achieve 20 nights and you'll earn 10,000 Starpoints.
• After 20 nights, earn 500 Starpoints for each additional night, up to 5,000 Starpoints.

Looks like that is what everyone is getting (unless you are a meeting planner).

It sounds to me like we then get no bonus for nights 4-19, with the full bonus coming only on the 23rd night (or more if your first three are longer than 1 nighters). If true that there is no double starpoints for nights 4-19, this promo is terribly weak

Ehh... It's okay, but annoying because my first two stays are just before the start. Uhh... thanks, SPG.

It depends how long your first three stays are.

My point is that unless your first three stays = 19 nights then there are a bunch of nights in between those stays and the 20th one where you will get zip. That is quite weak imo.

If a promo doesn't give enough points, people will cry it's weak.
If a promo gives too many points, people will cry devaluation.

There's no possible way a promo will work for everyone. That's life. Take it or leave it.

The 20 night counter only starts from the 4th stay onwards. So if your first 3 stays = 19 nights, you'd actually need to accrue 39 nights over the promotion period in order to unlock the 10,000 points.

IMO a promo should be designed to be tempting enough to push people over the fence; to do those extra stays/nights to earn the points. After all, a promo is not only to reward loyalty, but to generate revenue too right?

This promo is fine, but not quite tempting enough. Not complaining, just a comment.

lurkers,

i have a 2-room stay scheduled for late march, so that's 2 stays. this is a lengthy paid stay at a cat 7 property during which i expect to incur in lots of incidentals. double points would be much appreciated.

as it stands right now that stay would be my third stay in 2017... or, given it counts as two stays, my 3rd and 4th stays of the year.

how would this be sorted out vis-a-vis this promotion? which points would doubled and which would not?

thanks in advance

What a bizarre promo. I have three weeklong stays during the promotional period -- and I welcome the double points on those stays.

There's no way I will stay another 20 nights during the period, just not possible.

But if I have any other stays during the period that are before my second or third weeklong stay, I won't get the double points on the weeklong stay(s), because the double points are only on the first three stays. I think that's the part I find most vexing -- that the double points stops after the first three stays.

So, in order to get the double points on the three weeklong stays, I'm actually changing a couple of cheaper, shorter stays (that would have happened very soon after the weeklong stay, which starts just after the promo period begins) to Hyatt.

Not complaining about the double points on my three weeklong stays, just perplexed because this is the first time I think a promo has ever actually driven me to move stays elsewhere.

Hi FozBoy,

It would depend on how the hotel posts the stays.
