Just checked and noticed that the platinum benefits are seriously lacking for this brand. I will personally avoid these properties because of this.

So your willing to pass up a free Category 5 night for a possible upgrade and free breakfast at a Starwood property vs staying at a Design Hotel during this promo? Confused but to each his/her own!

New hotels?

Thanks William.

Any plans to add more North American properties to the Design hotel portfolio soon?

A note for those who haven't been following the incorporation of Design Hotels into SPG : this promotion will be valid only at the 40 or so (out of a total of the 282) Design hotels which have announced a partnership with SPG. Directory added to the wiki.

Good to read about it here but it seems that Starwood no longer bothers sending information about promotions directly to customers. This wasn't in the March newsletter ( arrived yesterday) and nor has it been the subject of an email. This is quite annoying for me because I made prepaid bookings in 2 of these cities earlier today but would have gone for Design properties had I known about this.
Starwood is dropping the ball a bit recently: forget the stupid baseball games and focus a bit more on telling your customers , in a timely manner, about real opportunities.

I think we would all hope so but the reality is that Design Hotels (before being purchased by Starwood) only had 7 hotels in the entire US. So I would assume that is what Starwood likely could start with before they try and negotiate more deals.

For work my travel is almost all domestic, and they only have 3 properties in the United States affiliated with SPG and all in New York. I would consider staying with them for vacation travel.... I am currently planning a European vacation. But yes, while on vacation in Europe free breakfast and upgrades are very important to me. Breakfast can easily be 40 euros a person at a hotel, so this represents a huge value.

Hi Keyser,

Yes, it would count as three nights if they meet the terms and conditions of the offer.

Just curious... The global Design Hotel website lists 2 hotels in Singapore:

New Majestic Hotel & Wanderlust

But as far as I know, there is a 3rd one: Klapsons

It's one block away from where I'm living and I'm quite sure I saw a "Design Hotel" logo on the door while passing by.

Is the list still being updated?

1 stay of 6 nights

Hi,

will one stay of 6 nights qualify for 2 Cat5 free nights?
It seems requirement is purely based on nights...
