Thank you for this. I just had my first stay at this property last weekend, and was very happy with the value for money I received at $109/night. This only sweetens the deal.

New orleans tourism still sufferring...

has had a real effect on rates - the Marriott across the stree had $89 rates a while back, but this is the best I'd heard of - I also cashed in on a Club room for $109 in June. More restaurants exist in the city now than pre-Katrina, and it's a fab foodie destination now. Any chance of a NoDo?^

Crazy hotel pricing in NOLA

I was all set to stay at this Sheraton for a mid-week business stay last week until I learned that the Ritz-Carlton a few blocks up Canal St. was undercutting them by $10/night. $149/night to stay at the Ritz vs. $159 for the Sheraton. Needless to stay, the Ritz got my business for that stay.

Quite pleased with the service so far, this is my first visit since before Katrina.
Valet has been fine but they wanted $26.95 per day so I've been parking 1/4 mile down from the hotel in an open lot for $10 per day.

Upgraded to Jr Suite on 41st floor w/river view. just LOVE watching the ships/barges on the Mighty Mississippi.

Had roomservice, pass on the gumbo, smoked duck quesadillas were great.

Also as far as restaurants go, skip ACME Oyster and get to Felix's right across the street.

Ate a new place for me called Couchon http://www.cochonrestaurant.com/ which is only about 7 blocks from the Sheraton (5 from the casino). Quite excellent.

Anyone know if club level rooms have free highspeed at this property? Or if the club lounge has it? Skimmed the thread but didn't find any indication. Thanks.

Going to NO Sheraton for conference late next spring. Is it worth paying $35 extra/night for club level? Are the rooms nicer? River view vs. French Quarter view? Amenities at the club? Any help would be appreciated.

Definitely alcohol (not free, but it's new orleans, so an Abita Amber is like $3).

There is a reasonable appy spread in the evening. I forget if they have hot food but the fruit and cheese spread is good as is the dessert assortment.

I've never been awake for the morning spread...it is New Orleans after all.

Activation Fee for FREE Benefit?

Just finished a prepaid stay at the Sheraton New Orleans and when checking out there was a $2 fee added to my account. When I asked at the front desk, I was told that's an activation fee for using the telephone. There was a letter in the room, addressed to me, thanking me for choosing the Sheraton and listed several benefits including free local and toll-free calls. Needless to say I complained and they removed the charge.

I realize revenue maximization is the name of the game these days, but how much longer until they put a credit card swipe to use the elevators?

They're now asking $30.18 per night self- or valet park. Where's that open-air lot and/or is there any reasonable parking nearby?

I wasn't aware self-park was an option at this property unless you park on the street or in lots not associated with the Sheraton New Orleans.

Suites

All,

Going here next Thur-Sun. Completely sold out on the 26th. Would love to get a suite. I know I shouldn't rely on an upgrade, but what are my chances? If terrible, I was wondering if anyone has stayed in the Governer suite or executive suite here and if it's worth spending $699 for the suite.

Thanks for the input and cant wait to get back down to NOLA!
