Room booked: Traditional
Room received: One-bedroom suite
Award stay: no
BRG stay: yes
SNAs redeemed: no
Comments: I got a suite on the third floor. On its face, it would sound like a crappy upgrade, but it actually comes with a terrace. No view to speak of, but a terrace nonetheless. They need to add better furnishings and make it less easy for me to run between all the other rooms allotted terrace space.

Comments: I got a family suite on the 29th floor. I get upgraded to executive suites frequently as I stay here very often. This is the first time they upgraded to Family suite which is much bigger and better decorated. Overall floor design is different and has a really premium feeling.

Impressed!^

It's a Four Points, not a Courtyard or Fairfield Inn.

Room booked: Deluxe room
Room received: Le Meridien Suite
Award stay: no
BRG stay: no. I use SET rates
SNAs redeemed: Yes, cleared within 5 days. After renovation LM KUL becoming more famous while still maintaining old, reasonable prices. Need to secure a suite just to waste my SNAs. Modern & quite high tech, but since i just checked out from Grand Hyatt KUL, using DSU for suite upgrade for 1 night stay there was a stark different in terms of room size alone! lol... anyway i loved both, but i'm leaning towards the Hyatt...

Comments: Kodus to this design hotel! Was terribly worried with Design BRG rules having to book lowest category room. Thank goodness for the 1 bedroom suite upgrade :-) I should thank my Ambassador too coz I asked her to call the property if I can be upgraded to a bigger bed than my single bed room booked. Anyways, BRG Rate 76 euros per night.

Comments: Made the very bad choice to eat breakfast in the Club Lounge. Won't make that mistake again.

Property: Element Frankfurt Airport
Date(s): June - 1 weekend night
Room booked: Studio King
Room received: One Bedroom Suite King
Award stay: No
BRG stay: No

Comments: Allocated to suite one day before arrival. Happy to get an upgrade although Elements are not obliged to provide upgrades. Room was great. Nice weather and almost no luggage, so didn't mind the lack of transportation as I took a walk from the airport to the hotel. However, the breakfast was poor. The "scrambled egg" was plain disgusting.

Property: Sheraton Fuschlsee-Salzburg
Date(s): July - 1 weekday night
Room booked: Deluxe King
Room received: One Bed Room Suite
Award stay: No
BRG stay: No

Comments: Walked in without reservation. The rate which was offered to me was 10% lower than what I could find on the App. Unfortunately, didn't have enough time to check out the renovated spa and pool area.

Room booked: Classic Room
Room received: Executive Room

Comments: I've known this hotel was notoriously stingy with suite upgrades and was "upgraded" to what they called an Executive Room on the second floor directly above the reception. Small room, shower-only bathroom and didn't feel like an upgrade, so I just went down and talked to the lovely Stefan on the Concierge/Ambassador desk. He heard me out, invited me to complimentary coffee in the champagne bar and dealt with it. Ten minutes later, he came back with keys to a massive fifth-floor Executive Room with two window banks, tons of space and a bathroom with a soaker tub and separate shower. Ask and ye shall receive.

Property: Sheraton Bratislava
Date(s): July 29th-31st, 2016
Room booked: Classic Room
Room received: Executive Suite
Award stay: No
BRG stay: Yes
SNAs redeemed: No
Comments: This hotel was everything FTers said about it - got pre-upgraded right before I checked in to a Junior Suite and then upgraded again at check-in to a huge Executive Suite on the first floor [same floor as the Club Lounge] that wrapped around the building. Beautiful, modern hotel in pristine condition with impeccable staff and part of a wonderful, contemporary development along the Danube with lots of riverside restaurants, grass hills and a promenade along the river. Love love love this hotel, total jewel in the Sheraton crown.

Property: The Guesthouse Vienna
Date(s): July 31st - August 1st, 2016
Room booked: Superior Courtyard Room
Room received: Deluxe Opera View Room
Award stay: No
BRG stay: Yes
SNAs redeemed: No
Comments: This is a Design Hotel member so upgrades are not part of the SPG membership requirements but are totally at the hotel's discretion. That being said, I was floored when I walked into a gorgeous room on the first floor with window seats [only present in rooms overlooking the Staatsoper], two window banks and lots of room. Based on the bathroom, this was obviously an ADA-compliant room but it was lovely to have been given the upgrade if for the window seat alone. Not enough words about how wonderful this property is - from the design of the spaces and rooms, the friendliness of the staff or the quality of their EXCELLENT food.
