Not guilty!

BTW 2301 was the first renewed Junior suite to show how it will be after renovation.

Stayed at the Westin leipzig for four days. Room was small but nicely decorated. Free internet in the room; it has T-mobile hot spot too, but reasonable priced at 29 euros for 30 days. Breakfast was good. I'm plat and did not get free breakfast. Other than 500 amenity points and nicer room, there is no plat benefit to speak of. The Westin is a blend hotel that you can find anywhere.

After checking out, I went to Hotel Fuerstenhof. I was upgraded to a large suite on 4th floor, facing the main street. The windows were really well built. I can hear no noise from the busy street. The bed was very comfortable, and I had a great sleep. The bathroom was all marble with top quality materials and construction. The lobby has a small hotel atmosphere. The dining room for breakfast was elegant and intimate. Service was excellent. The manager recognized me by name on the first I met him. He said "I know all my guests". I was impressed. I asked to see the famous Serpentine room, and the desk gladly opened and showed to me. This hotel is historic, very special, and very worth visiting. This hotel is really a gem in starwood.

Any more recent news about this hotel? I stayed here about 4 years ago and really liked it. Now I'm back again next week. how are they about plat upgrades?

Looking at their rates for those dates they have a lot of rooms free.

Falco has now 2 Michelin stars, before it had only one!

Stayed there at the end of april 09.upgraded to floor 23-said to be club floor. No suite but it really was jumping with a queue at checkin every time we went past.Really didnt get told of any benefits except at checkout-asked if anything from the mini bar-answered as always No.Didnt you have the water it is free for plats?Next time tell me at checkin!
However it is convenient for the Old town etc and did enjoy the stay.Falco was far too expensive for us even with their michelin stars-have had cheaper meals in 3 star establishments.

Stayed here last week for two days during the week. Did not get upgraded to a Jr. suite, but to a "Grand deluxe" on the 26th floor. They said they only had a suite available on a lower floor, and as I wanted to take pictures by night I took the room on the 26th.

The hotel was fairly empty, we had a couple of drinks in the lobby and during the whole time there wasn't a single person coming to the front desk.

Photo's of the hotel can been seen HERE

Stayed 2 times this year in the Westin. First time was horrible. I had an awful bed and could not sleep. This one was not SPG like!

"nd time was much better. I stayed I think in the 23rd floor. The room was exactly like on the pictures from thomas.

At this time I was only Gold.

Stayed also once in the Fürstenhof on the opposite side od the street and like that one more. We had a very nice room over there and the Hotel is really a different style.

Sad there is no longer a club lounge...what are the benefits of the aforementioned club floor, however?

There is no official club floor anymore.

Additional Platinum benefit consists of a 0.5l bottle of water

Chances to be upgraded to a junior suite are good, however the property is booked very solid during certain times, because it is one of very few hotels in the area that is able to take conventions/meetings of a certain size.

The Deluxe suites are also in the pool for upgrades, the Executive Suites are considered Speciality Suites, however.

Grand Deluxe rooms are nicer than Deluxe rooms and Classic rooms are also really a significant downgrade from the higher categories, not because of the size of the room, but because of the furniture and general condition.

Breakfast is not a Platinum benefit and will not be granted.

I have discussed some issue with upper management at the property recently and I am quite confident that they really upgrade to suites, if available and do not make up stories like many other properties in Germany. Due to the many different room categories, quite some colleagues, myself included experienced a certain trend to upgrade Plats to... Quote: "a very nice Grand Deluxe room"

We also discussed how to make the property more attractive to Plats. , but was told that SPG keeps a certain eye on the property not to do too much in order not to have certain hotels stand out from the rest.

For example, it could not hurt to grant Plats free access to the premium TV channels, this hotels offers Sky at a surcharge of ~ Euro 10. Sky broadcasts the Bundesliga and also several other European soccer leagues as well as the PGA tour and is available free of charge at many ( all ?? ) German Interconti's and not a single Hyatt, not even against some $$$

The Fuerstenhof is in general more upscale, although the Westin has the abovementioned Falco on the top floor with a Michelin 2 star rating.

Enjoy, it is first and foremost a really beautiful city with many sights and solid quality shopping and both the Westin and Fuerstenhof are only some stone throws away from the main railway station, which is quite a sight as well

Stayed here 4 nights recently on business with OH on leisure...

I had pre-requested a suite on the 10-12th floor if available as OH would be in the room quite a lot, and I don't like sleeping high up. On arrival, we had been allocated a deluxe suite on the 12th floor. Nice suite with balcony, good views and interesting bathroom (shower between 2 sinks and 3 doors into the bathroom/cloakroom. Nice heated floor).

We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as there were plenty of nice cheap places in town. We did however eat at Falcos one night. Service was great and we were lucky to view a storm with lightening all around. OH loved the food but I was sick multiple times afterwards...

A good business hotel but nothing wow.

I got a room on the 22nd floor, which does have a free bottle of water, but they were insistent on not offering me any Plat benefits since it's a group booking (which I kind of understand and know is policy, but it doesnt build any goodwill towards the customer). I wonder if I just got lucky and was upgraded to a dated room on the 22nd floor.

Happy Hour for Platinum Members

The hotel now offers a happy hour for Platinum Members. Between 6pm and 7pm you are invited for beer, wine and softdrinks in the the regular hotel bar. Beside drinks they offered a snack service which was fantastic. They offered a plate with five small dishes (soup, starter, salad, main and chese) which obviously came from Falco restaurant - we were really impressed about taste and quality - not the junkfood you get in other places but top notch restaurant food ^^.

I stayed here for a weekend in early January on a very cheap prepaid rate. The hotel was nearly completely empty and I was offered a junior suite (#2301). But as all of them are facing the zoo and fair area and not the city I asked for a deluxe suite (corner suite with balcony). I was given one (obviously the only one that was occupied during this weekend). It was only 15th floor but still with nice view. The best is that one has view to 3 sides incl. balcony. Thus one has the city view which is quiet noisy and also the quiet side for the bed room.
I was told that deluxe suite are normally not give to platinums, only if the hotel is quiet empty, you are a frequent stayer with them, or come with family. The suite itself was nicely renovated and very modern and in a good shape. Only few things did not work properly (some light at the bedroom ceiling, part of the floor heating in the bathroom and one of the floor lights)
The bathroom is weird as it is big overall but divided with several doors, two facing sinks, and a glass shower in the middle.
I saw one normal room which really looked dated and had no heavenly bed. Really two classes below the suite. I think it was either a classic or deluxe room as it already hat flat tv.
I was not offered the platinum offer in the hotel bar immediately but after asking what the offer as compensation for missing club lounge I got exactly what Flying Lawyer described. But the food was not from Falco as it was closed during this time. Despite it was nice. But the bar staff did not feel very well to serve platinums in their bar for free.
But the old bartender was already working in the hotel when it still was merkur during DDR times, so many stories and changes that took place to tell. For example the conference room Goethe was formerly a restaurant and then became a casino during hotel intercontiental times. Thus the extra entry from the outside.
The place where the Japanese restaurant is now located was formerly a store for jeans, and the other conference rooms were also stores during DDR times. Also interesting is the Jägermeister Stube which most probably was the dancing club formerly.
It is a very nice located hotel, with nice rooms if you got a suite or grand deluxe one with a lot of history behind. But most of them time very well booked and normal rooms are small and just practical. Exactly what was the intention when it was built (getting western money from rich people who wanted the best available during stays for visting the fair). Was for sure nice place to get observed by Stasi.
On 13 may they will celebrate the 30th birthday of the hotel with lot of former employees. Currently still 50 of the original employees work here.
