Points bonuses add up to make this worthwhile

I stayed here two weeks ago and completely agree with the comments about the service, the punishing resort fee, and the condition of the hotel (last renovated in 2008). Even so, it has great bones and with a bit of TLC could compete with other PS options.

The best reason to go now is the bonus points situation. I used this stay to complete my 10 Brands dashboard promo (10K points), got a 2K Tribute promo, and a $50 breakfast credit per day (while they work out the kinks with the breakfast coupons).

Also, it's a long walk to the heart of PS, but there's a frequent shuttle that picks up across the street from the hotel. This seems like a good *wood acquisition.

I stayed here 2 weeks ago

Front desk agent told me this property was built in 1959. last renovation was 2007.

I got upgraded to Jr. Suite. room size was ok. bathroom was ok. carpets needs to be replaced and new windows need to be installed. the street noise was so loud. it felt like the windows were open when they were not. to avoid street noise ask for a room not facing the street.

internet was very slow

breakfast service was very slow and the food came out kind of cold.

front desk staff were fantastic.

no issues with 4 pm late check out

Platinum amenity is 500 points per stay or $50 daily credit per room that can be used for Breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Watch your SPG Amex statements as this hotel has still not been coded as a Starwood hotel with AMEX yet and the double points are not posting. Have been on hold with 4 different agents now for over 40 minutes trying to get somebody who knows how to report it. Apparently nobody does as Amex finally transferred me to regular SPG reservations which did not have any idea what to do.

It is nice to have these hotels added quickly but the roll out has been less than stellar.

looking for suggestions on whether to stay here later this month or cancel....will be driving from la - scottsdale & was planning on breaking my journey by spending the night here....

i have a $89 brg rate booked so i stand to earn the following:

stay $89+$35 = $124 * 4 = 496 points
spg amex spends $138.86 * 2 = 277 points
plat amenity = 500 points
brg bonus = 2,000 points
all 10 brands bonus = 1,000 points
tribute promo bonus = 2,000 points

a grand total of 6,273 points for a total of $138.86 spent....

i don't need the stay/night credit since i'm already a plat at ambassador level....is this property worth staying overnight to break my journey or should i just drive the extra 4 hours to scottsdale & skip it????

You can always stay and shop at Cabazon. If it was me, I'll stay there for the points.

actually we are shopping at cabazon....the plan was to leave la around noon....get to the outlets around 2pm....shop for a few hours & then leave for scottsdale around 6-7pm....i had booked the riviera in case we got late & didn't want to drive at night....i think if they didn't have the stupid resort fees then i would have definitely stayed....

My favorite thing about the property is that it is a really beautifully renovated mid-century classic property. If this kind of thing is interesting to you, then it might be worth it. I also happen to love Palm Springs. However, as I said in an earlier post and others have said, the service is not great, and my guess is that the rooms could probably use a refresh at this point (the hotel was fully renovated in 2007 or so).

You should not forget the 2,015 bonus points promo as well. that is unless you have not earned it already. And yes, you don't earn starpoints on resort fees. But you can always ask to waive it, if that's not possible, you should definitely ask for the alternative plat amenity since the fee includes internet.
