Official Announcement
American Express and Starwood enhance cobrand credit card benefits

Will the additional cardholders on my Starwood Business Amex account get access to the Sheraton Club lounge? What about guests in additional rooms I'm also paying for?
"This benefit is for Basic Card Members only on Starpoint Eligible Rate reservations...Sheraton Club lounge access is limited to the eligible Card Member and a guest staying in the same room for the duration of the stay, regardless of how many rooms have been reserved." (See Starwood FAQs.)

Which hotel brands with the Sheraton name will offer the lounge benefit? The benefit is offered at all Sheraton-branded properties, including Sheraton Grand hotels, with the exception of any Luxury Collection property. It is not available at Four Points by Sheraton hotels.

Club access if I book my stay with points or cash+points?
Per Starwood Lurker, yes.

Therefore, the SPG AmEx Business cardholder is entitled to lounge access. Am I wrong on this?
I believe you are correct. My understanding is that Citi Prestige is just a middle man travel agent just like booking travel through your company agency. Stays booked through Citi Prestige still get stay credit and points correct? If so, then it's an eligible spend method.

OP, I would ask the question in the Citi Prestige thread to verify that it's an eligible rate. It's not a 3rd party company like expedia or priceline.

Hint, there are 2 lounges in that hotel - the one in the Tower is much better than the one in the old building. However you have to book a room in Tower then you would have lounge access automatically regardless what other credential you have.

Needless to say, the "freebie" you will get at the old building is very substandard.
Thank you for the very helpful advice.

Seems like there should be a way for SPG to link your biz Amex with your account if you use it as your default payment.
This is not the only perk that is inconsistent.

I booked 2 rooms at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok and confirmed lounge access for 1 room with my SPG Amex Business card. I asked to upgrade the 2nd room with points and was quoted 6,750/night. Sheratonclubroom.com says a club room upgrade can be had in a Cat 3 hotel for 1,000-1,500/night. The hotel rep said she would get back to me, but it's been a week and no response. So I called the SPG gold line and the rep had no idea what I was talking about. She said she could sell me a room with points but didn't know how to upgrade a paid reservation to a club room with points.

Frustrating...

Those types of upgrades may only be arranged/confirmed within five days of arrival.

And, the paid-rate reservation needs to be booked at either RACK, COR, BAR or SET.

Thanks for this info, William. It would be nice if the sheratonclubroom.com website showed the info about the 5 day out policy & the phone reps knew it as well. Would a BRG booking count or not?

A BRG booking is not RACK, COR, BAR or SET, so no.

Canadian version of the SPG Amex Business card

Does the Canadian version of the card also provides Sheraton club lounge access?

No, this benefit applies only to the US SPG AMEX Optima card.

Trying to decide between Sheraton and Hyatt Hong Kong (Kowloon). Both are 12k points/night for standard room, but husband and I are both SPG Gold and have the SPG Amex Biz card. We would need to book the family rate w/ second room 50% off for our children. I'm not sure how this rez would go down in terms of the points/family rate, but I'm wondering if both rooms are eligible for club lounge access. Perhaps if we put one in my name and one in spouse's name even though on same rez? Again, we both have the Amex SPG biz.

Sheraton Reston FDC unaware

Stayed here for a week two months ago. Had a twenty minute discussion with the lone FDC about the perk. I finally went to the lobby internet cafe to print the AMEX T&C and promo pages both stating the AMEX biz card provides lounge access.

The clerk even tried to deny access because my card did not "look like the one shown at the websites." But I found an image there that did resemble my card background (lucky me).

Finally, I was granted access (same non-club room as expected). At least I wasn't told I should be grateful for the 'one-time exception.'

I was in China in from April to June and stayed in several Sheraton hotels.
Sheraton Zibo hotel claimed they did not know this privilege first but later came back with a weird rule after "communication with corporate representative" that only US passport holder were entitled to such privilege.
Sheraton Qingdao Licang Hotel said only the card holder were entitled to this privilege and guest in the same room was not included.
Sheraton Beijing Great Wall knew this privilege and gave us access immediately.

Any idea how to file complain in China to the Corp?
