Am I getting bigger or is Sheraton soap getting smaller?

I am beginning to wonder if I am getting bigger or if Sheraton soap is getting smaller. Seems like sometime within the past six months, I have noticed a "slimming" of the soap. I also think that the shampoo bottle has gotten smaller too.

Is it just me? I did get on the scale and I am the same size as I was last year.

Properties continue to cut costs where they can. Reducing the size of the consumables provides some cost savings. Although I would think there is a finite point they can go. The 4Ps may have reached that point and that is why they are going to the dispensers. I have two objections to the dispensers, one you're not 100% sure the contents haven't been tampered with, and two I can't read the labels without my glasses that I don't wear when showering.

There was speculation a long time ago that used bars of soap were being "recycled" to make new bars and shampoo was being rebottled. Also reading many articles about people collecting unused toiletries and making gifts or donating to their local shelters may be behind the "shrinkage".

Maybe if you could post the size/weight of your superslimmedsheratonsoap bar, those posters who have drawerfuls of old soaps at home can compare and advise on the historical trend ?

Well… Today the soap felt like the size of a Chicklet. I'm going to have to stop getting the make a green choice because I am running out of soap!

I don't use shampoos and shower gels provided in Sheraton. The standard issues are made in PRC.

Just as an FYI, they will bring you more of anything you need, even using Make A Green Choice.

Thanks... Not complaining. Just making an observation and stretching the story a little.

I've noticed that Sheraton toiletries overseas (especially Asia compared to USA) look like they're not quite the same size as the ones in domestic properties. It might be a matter of metric versus English system of measurement with sizes being in round numbers.

Westin stuff looks the same size to me, but some Asian hotels package it beautifully, with the wrapped green leaf soap being placed in a nice little box, etc.

Depends where you are,

Amenities in China/HK/Macau are produced in Tianjin, PRC.
Southeast Asia properties are produced Malaysia.
North America properties are produced in the USA.

And yes the size of those bottles vary a lot. I guess based on inventory, some hotels still use the old bottle design. So YMMV.

Am I getting bigger or is Sheraton so getting smaller?

I have often wondered about the waste of unused toiletries. If SPG are supplying smaller soaps then seems to be a good thing all round. as William pointed out, can always get more.

And the amenities distributed in properties in Europe are produced in Italy.

Blame it on the decrease on average length of stay.
We in the hotel business see that is decreasing, where I work (EU business destination) I think it is now down to 1.1 nights, so it is indeed pointelss and a waste to provide a large soap bar to a guest that will use it for a one day stay.

FWIW, the Sheraton soaps in my drawer, sourced from various European properties, are all 28g / 0.98oz and made in Italy.
