I put the question mark at the end of my sentence on purpose. Is it?

Spent a night here in Oct. Very friendly staff. Upgraded to the largest regular suite on an SNA 5 days in advance.

(platinum amenity) breakfast was amazing. A lot to choose from and very high quality. Great coffee too.

+1 This is a great hotel...we wrote ahead and got a Writer's Suite which worked perfectly for us...and definitely agree that the breakfast is fantastic!

I don't quite agree on the so/so part. The location is indeed great and I found the hotel has nice rooms, has a unique feel to it and the staff were very friendly. I rate this as one of the best Westin's in Europe.

For me quite mixed. Location is good. One of the best hotels there. Also the atmosphere and breakfast option, bar gym and other facilities are fine.

The only problem would be that the rooms especially on the top floor seems to be kind of "Used to be servants' room" or storage rooms. Basically attic

which room

There are three children (14, 12, 5) and two adults in our group.

The rooms seem to have relatively small occupancy limits (like 2 or 3). How strict will they be if we have 5 people? I phoned the hotel, and the guy said that it would be ok for the small child to sleep with one of the adults, but he didn't seem to really know. He put me on hold to ask someone and said that it seemed ok.

Will they actually refuse to allow you in the room with 5 people if the room only "allows" 3?

Also, I am thinking of staying one night in the Westin at the beginning of the trip and then one night in the Hilton on the night before going to the airport (around Noon). Would you recommend the Westin both nights?

Why not just book two standard rooms? You definitly risk that they wont allow 5 people in you room, even if you book or get upgraded to a suite. Occupancy rules are there for a reason (fire regulation etc.). You should at least get a "thats okay" in writing from the hotel (via email). This hotel is very popular and often fully booked, so I would not take a chance here.

Thank you. Will do.

Any recommendation on which suite to get? They are quite pricey (24,000 vs. 12,000 points for regular room).

I would book two standard rooms instead, and ask for them to be connecting. The suites also seem to have a max occupancy of 3.

The Westin Dublin

We checked in prior to noon for a 5-night stay. A nice surprise - our early check in request was honoured. Billy, our Westin Guest Experience Specialist, e-mailed in advance & had arranged for our Westin Workout gear to be available. Our upgrade - to a 2-room suite on the 3rd floor - was perfect : two TVs, couch, desk, lovely windows & a fridge. Our bedroom came c/w king bed, 4 piece bath and a soaker tub. Also, we had ample closet and storage space for a 5-night stay.

The location is to die for - opposite Trinity College Dublin, right on the 747 Express bus from the airport, and easy walking distance to Temple Bar area c/w rests.

A highlight each am was breakfast. The Westin Dublin provides a full buffet breakfast for 2 as its Plat amenity and - as others have suggested - its well worth it. We took the opportunity to order Irish porridge, tea and lattes. Otherwise, the buffet is complete with muesli, OJ, breads & bagels, muffins, eggs, smoked salmon, and bacon. Also, both The Irish Times and the FT are complimentary.

On rain days, the hotel had plenty of brollies (we used two). The only inconvenience was the construction underway around the hotel - the noise was not a problem (hotel is pretty soundproof) but it made for interesting mud puddles.

The hotel staff were unbelievably good. Billy checked in with us twice during our stay. The folks at the front desk made sure we received extra towels, our Plat amenity, and water. The Westin Dublin may not be The Dorchester, but the service was much better than @ any Westin we have visited.

Had a three night stay here; mixed bag.

Had an 8am check-in request (Your24) which the hotel approved despite being sold out. Arrived and was told "we've upgraded you to a very nice Classic Queen." Went to the room and it was the smallest and darkest room I've seen in a long time; smaller than the cruise ship sized rooms at Sheraton Yokohama, and half the size of the bathroom of the suite at SR Princeville I had a few weeks ago. I ended up storing my luggage and waiting a couple hours for a bigger room; Deluxe, I suppose - still not huge, but at least on a higher floor with a window and a bit of a view.

Internet was highly problematic -- dropped connections, very poor speeds. There's no guestroom login, but anyone can just sign up with an email address. Spoke to the front desk, and apparently, no premium version. It was barely suitable for checking email and FT, and at some point, I considered leaving and seeking refuge at the IC.

Lots of positives besides the mediocre room and awful internet: Good location, very friendly staff, and great Platinum breakfast (in lieu of 500 points) -- full buffet with a good selection of high quality meats/cheeses/fish/fruits/pastries, plus hot dishes and eggs to order. I also found the hotel very appealing -- it's not a typical Westin, but feels more like a boutique hotel and could would probably be a good fit with the Luxury Collection.

Question Comparing bathroom size between ireland & usa

Seriously?? You compare BRs in Ireland with those at the StR in Hawaii? That's more than apples & oranges, IMO.

Did you speak with anyone in house about your WIFI problem? We had no issues with the wifi in this historic property. Might be an idea to notify Plat Liaison about the issue you had?

ps I had a look at the TA reviews, and none of them id the wifi as an issue.

My entire room in Dublin was about half the size of my bathroom at SRP. I wasn't complaining about it -- I'm well aware that it's not uncommon for European hotels to have some tiny rooms; fortunately, Plats rarely see these rooms. I was trying to convey that the cheerful "we've upgraded you to a very nice Classic Queen" was perhaps a less ideal wording than "we have one room available for you; it's small, but we can accommodate your early check-in request."

Spoke to the front desk and had the router reset. That did not fix the issue. Not sure how it matters that TA reviews don't mention internet problems; knowing that 100 people had no problems there wouldn't have improved my connection.

I stayed at the property last night and can agree that the internet is miserably slow, at least in my room. I was too tired to go downstairs and complain, but I am going to follow up and let them know.
