account expiry - 1 yr + ?

I opened starwoods account mid-April last year, but my statements say my points are expiring on May 31st this year. Is this when it's actually going to happen - i.e., 1 year plus a month, or should I worry immediately?
Thanks.

If you've had 1 posting i.e. hotel stay that had room revenue your account if it is preferred level will be renewed automatically but just in case they give a grace period of 6 months from the expiry date before they close the acc. The points technically never expire but it is wise to call SPG just to make everything is Aok

Will any activity such as clickrewards transfers or points earned from partners extend the expiration date or does it have to be an actual room stay?

Thanks!
(I should've searched old posts, this is probably an faq question..)

My question is this: I was a Gold until 1998 or 1999 and had 15,000 pts or so. I haven't stayed at a Starwood or accumulated any points since then. Did I lose all my points? Am I starting from ground zero again? Do I need to get a new account number? Was I deleted from the Starwood System?

I ask b/c I have reached Plat at Marriott(plus I have scheduled enough nights to get my 25K bonus), I have reached Diamond at Hilton and just got my latest 50K bonus. However I still have a many more nights to stay in hotels this CY. I was going to go for the top tier Elite level in either the Hyatt or Starwood programs. If I lost all my Starwood Points, it becomes a no brainer and I go with Hyatt, however if I didn't lose all my points, then the question becomes a bit more complex. Does anyone know the answer to my question of losing all my points without any activity for 3 years or so.

TrojanHorse,

There is no need to speculate. Call the Account Service Center or send me an e-mail. Please include your Starwood Preferred Guest number or the name the account is under along with your mailing address so I can locate your account.
