The email came from [email protected] and mentioned specials at The Palace, which I assume is because I was browsing rooms there yesterday.

I wouldn't read much into that, frankly. However, if and when SPG is ready to announce a promotion, I promise I won't fold it up and keep it in my back pocket for a week before letting everyone know.

while the opening of the new brand is certainly a good thing to celebrate about, it's just such a let down if the Q2 promo is only for the miami hotel.

And for the period of 5/1 and beyond I currently have two nights booked with SPG with the rest currently booked at Radisson (my third choice) and Marriott (tie with SPG) for the remainder of May...I look at approximately 15 nights with competitors where reasonable SPG-alternatives exist.
This may not be the end of the world for SPG, but I guess there are quite a few travelers who look at a similar situation...if the SPG promo finally comes out I might change that distribution, but probably not for the first two weeks of May for convenience reasons - so that revenue is lost for SPG.
