Fantastic Starwood promo!
Starwood has come up with another great promotion. No registration required!
Now through 12.31.99, stay 3 times and earn 5,000 bonus Starpoints. Stay 5 times and earn 15,000 Starpoints, plus GUARANTEED Platinum Preferred status throughout 2000! Now this promo is definitely one of the best promotions this year!
Remember, stays on any of Starwood's 6 brands qualify for this promotion.
I've been cautioned though that this promo may not be available to everyone so check with Starwood. I was notified by Starwood of this promotion by e-mail. It is apparently not on their website.

Any promotion code, so that I can call and ask about it.
Sounds better than the promo I posted about the bonus miles, especially getting the Platinum Status. I already have 4 stays reserved. Could easily squeeze in one more. Hope I can get them to qualify me for this.

I called last week to sign up...used the number and the code on the other thread. I have three more stays booked for November, which will give me four stays. I can always get the fifth stay at home by spending the weekend downtown.
And the Heavenly Bed is just that. It is wonderful. 250 thread sheets are great (have 280s at home) most hotels must use 180.

What was the code and number you used?
Is it the AA or UA ones? If it is, do I actually have to be a member of one of them?
Regards,
Empress

I used the number SF1k listed: 877-Starwood. The code for United is NZ and American NV.

BTW: apparenlty you just need the 3 stays to be upgraded to platinum...at least that's what my flyer told me and confirmed by the SCR. Pretty cool deal!

Does this mean 20,000 Starwood points in total plus Platinum status ?
I called and registered for this.
Could anyone summarize what are the benefits of being a Platinum?
Regards,
Empress

why 20,000 Starpoints?. I think the promotion says 5000 starpoints after 3 stays and or 15000 after 5 stays.
Platinum benefits:
You get all gold benefits plus you will be guaranteed room availability within 72 hr. of checking in date. And Room upgrade (suite usually)

I was thinking they'll give you 5000 after 3rd stay and another 15000 after 5th stay. Or are they just going to wait til the promotion is over to credit the points.
BTW, after the 5th stay, does the Platinum status kick in immediately?

Empress

Empress: I asked that question of a starwood supervisor and was told "I don't think you get both, you get either 5000 or 15000"
He wasn't sure, but his answer makes sense to me.

I called Starwood today to register for this. Didn't get the mailing but I am gold. She told me you only get the Platinum after 5 stays and that none of the points for this will post until January. So you get 5,000 in January if you stay 3 or 4 times, 15,000 if you've stayed 5 or more times. You don't get 20,000. Still a great promo though! Thanks for calling my attention to it, AusTXHiker!
