Fantastic, just in time for the 2014 opera festival there!

Excellent. They were kind of weak in the area - I stayed in Taos last time I visited NM. I wonder what category it will be.

Greta news. Starwood is woefully weak in NM. This goes towards fixing that.

Lurkers... Can you confirm this?

FWIW, you can check the 'official' status and dates of all Starwood's upcoming openings here.

Sorting the list view by opening date shows what's coming soon.

It's a lovely property with nice grounds and distinctively southwestern style but it's not in the center of Santa Fe. You really can't walk downtown and would want a car here, although you probably could walk to the bottom end of Canyon and the restaurants/shops there.

I'm confused - its five blocks (.3 miles straight down Palace Ave) from the Square (which i would say is downtown Santa Fe) - which can be walked in about 5 minutes. What would you define as 'downtown' Santa Fe?

To me, it didn't feel like downtown, compared to the Eldorado for instance.

Yep, that page is where I got the info. There's just no official page for the hotel at Starwood yet, so I couldn't provide a link.

It's an extra 0.1 miles. Having lived in Santa Fe, I would respond to anyone that asked that it's downtown.

As a yearly visitor to Santa Fe, this is welcome news! We stayed at the La Posada last year and loved the property (had a bit of trouble with the AC one day, but the stay was flawless otherwise). It is very walkable to the downtown area.

The Starwood website shows this is opening May 15, 2014, but is not yet bookable. Are there any rules of thumb as to how far in advance it will open or any specifics for that matter?

The La Posada is now up and bookable on SPG.com, taking reservations for stays on or after May 22.

Category 5. Note that the La Posada does have a resort fee.

Can somebody decode the resort fee verbiage at this property? Is it $40? Is it $40 per person? What does it cover?

Resort Charge Policy

Guests may apply the resort charge to all on-site facilities. At check-in, a guest’s credit card will be authorized for $40 per person per day. The authorization will be released at checkout. All resort charges must be paid in full at checkout.
