There is nothing official from the Starwood end of things. Have you sent them an email to [email protected]?

Room Availability for August

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to inform you about the current situation of the Sheraton Dubrovnik.

The opening will take place as planned, tomorrow the 1st August. However, the hotel doesn't accept bookings for arrivals before or on 15th August, 2015. While August seems to be rather booked already, we noticed availability in September.

I hope that clarifies the situation, however feel free to let us know, if you have further questions.

Same here, disappointed, I would've liked to stay there Aug. 26th-29th!

Here is their answer (on August 12) to my email query:

However, the exact date is still unknown, we are expecting permits from the authorities any day now. After that, we will be able to open the hotel.

We hope that this date will be before September 1st. The hotel is currently selling online from September 1st.

I ended up booking the Hilton Dubrovnik since this property isn't open and it gets good reviews on FT. I'm a Gold Member too so may get some nice benefits.

Although the Hilton isnt a resort, Id rather stay there then outside of town ata resort. I guess if a person wants a resort setting they wont want the Hilton. But for all touristy things the Hilton wins hands down, for shopping as well

Just stayed there last night. They're now open for about a week, and they already have plenty of guests there, including groups from Asia. Some parts of the hotel still need a final touch, but overall, it looks nice.

While the staff was really friendly, I was quite underwhelmed with the upgrade I received as a Platinum member.

Since it was summer and all suites were booked, I did not expect any upgrade into a suite - but I found it quite appalling that I received one of the very few Deluxe rooms as an upgrade with only a tiny balcony while pretty much all other rooms had some proper balcony with chair + table outside.

If you come to Dubrovnik for a "touristy" stay, I strongly recommend the Hilton which is right accross from the Old Town.

Award nights only open till end of April 2016

Trying to book award nights in May then kept getting errors.

Finally found the calendar and saw the award nights were only open till end of April. There were award nights every night thru the whole calendar that ends on April 30. Zero night from May 1st onward.

Is this a normal practice for a new hotel?

Location wise it is not a good one to do sightseeing of Dubrovnik but we have a car so prefer to stay at a place where parking is not an issue.

I've not seen any mention of a Club lounge at this hotel - I'm trying to decide whether to book a breakfast inclusive rate, use Platinum breakfast benefit or rely on a lounge.

If there is no lounge - shouldn't it have one give that it is a Sheraton and doesn't have Resort in the title? (I appreciate it is probably more worthy of the resort title than some hotels)

Not necessarily. This hotel is classified as a resort, so they are not required to have a club lounge.
