Aha, I knew there had to be a catch! Well caught, boss! ^

What about triple points if a Sunday doesn't fall within the promo period?

For example, checks in April the 27th (Sunday) and checks out on May the 2nd. Will this earn triple or double?

Since the promo starts on May 1st, it shouldn't qualify. Lurker has confirmed it as well in a previous post. So technically only your May 1st night earns double points.

Only the Aloft Excel ...

Huge from all of us in the UK, where 8 out of the 9 Starwood properties are excluded.

As per the FAQ's:
If I check in before May 1, 2014, or check out after July 31, 2014, does my stay earn the bonus?

Yes, as long as one night of the stay is within the promotion period, bonus Starpoints will be earned on every night during the entire stay (even if part of the stay falls outside the promotion period).
So all the nights will earn double points, but it doesn't say anything about a Sunday that doesn't fall in the promo period to make it triple.

They're not excluded. They're more than welcome to join the promo, but they chose not to participate. Who exactly is supposed to be the recipient of all your ?

Would the list of participating hotels take up less space?

If I remember correctly, Starwood hasn't back-to-back'd promos before (the current promo ends 30th April)? Either way - ^

Thank you for giving us heads up for planing our future stays. This is somewhat similar to the current HHonors promo that would award more points if the stay falls over the weekend (and is at least two-day long).

After registering at (www.spgpromos.com/EarnAway) I have found the following SPG statement rather interesting:
"There's only one thing better than double Starpoints® — triple Starpoints."
I am sure that you will hear many other opinions and suggestions regarding "What could be better than double Starpoints®?"

I think this is a pretty great promo! It doesn't get much more lucrative than triple points. The nice thing is that if another chain comes by to offer a way more lucrative promo, you're not "penalized" on this one for doing less nights, i.e. a bonus that triggers after a certain threshold.

Triple points with stays including a Sunday is great luck for me. I already know I have 3 trips within the period where I need to go to TX on a Sunday evening. If only the Dallas SPG properties were a bit more desirable.... (with the exception of the W, which is too rich for my blood on a normal business stay)

Sure it does ... like the old days when SPG doled out free weekend nights. Or the 10K threshold bonii, etc, etc.
