St Regis Langkawi, Malaysia [Master Thread]

St Regis Langkawi to be fast tracked and open in 2015 for the APEC Summit

Also reported by Bernama Langkawi To Have Two New Landmarks

For those who are interested, the project will be close to the existing Westin on Pantai Beringin.

Looking forward to a great new resort option on the island.

Not listed in the hotel directory yet... but yes, great to have more choices. The Andaman is getting dated.

Just in time for GST too

It looks like pictures are up. Here

I wonder how accurate the 1 December 2015 opening date will be.

I doubt any new property could beat the Andaman in terms of a boutique experience, but it's good to have options.

+1. I came in here to reply the same thing. I'm not sure whether I'll stay at the St. Regis while the Andaman is still running.

Same thing goes for Dubai. My wife loves the Grosvenor House. So she's not budging staying at the new St Regis in Dubai.

GF and I are going to Langkawi in late December. We were hoping that the St. Regis might have an early soft opening, but alas it is not meant to be. Still very much looking forward to the Andaman.

Just tried to book an award reservation for late winter, and noticed their cancellation policy is 30 days prior to arrival!!!

What in the world?!? Seems a tad bit excessive, no?

About a month ago, I made an award reservation there for early 2017. Just checked and my cancellation deadline is 7 days prior to arrival. I'm ok with that at a high end property. 30 seems a bit steep.

IIRC, park hyatt maldives also had this cancellation policy (30 days prior to arrival).

i knew because my credit card had been charged 30 days before my arrival.

PH Saigon is 30 days too during Dec/Jan holiday period. Even my Corp rate which is normally exempted from any such policy is 15 days. That is a new development at many of these properties, because they are certain they can sell every room.

Question update

It appears to me that the opening date for this property has been delayed (again?) to September 1, 2016. Can any FTs confirm?

Also, will this property be over the water? (can't tell from the photos!)
