Le Méridien Cairo Airport [Master Thread]

New Le Meridien hotel scheduled to open on December 1, 2013.

SPG award category 3 is totally out of whack with reality (read ADR's/RevPAR) as is the case with many hotels.

I wouldn't count on that date. Construction in most of Egypt is delayed I definitely. Just look at the Sheraton Cairo or Ritz Carlton...

I was there in both July and August (I stayed at the Le Meridien Heliopolis) and the building exterior and the bridge linking it to the terminal seem complete. However, due to the situation in the country, it may not make sense to staff and open it any time in the near future.

Thanks for posting. Could be useful for ex-CAI tickets/mileage runs.

We were looking to book a room for day use mid December. The website says opening 1 December, but live chat with SPG Platinum said they are not accepting reservations until 1 January 2014.

When I asked why I was told they usually only open the hotel for tours for operators and travel agents.

I was quite dumfounded by this response. Why not just change the opening date?

I suppose you want redemption ?
I booked (April) from their webpage and there seems to be availability for December as well for normal booking.
The opening day has been delayed 2-3 times (from Oct to Nov, now Dec) but this is the 1st time they allowed booking.

By the way, I booked a fare "Le Meridien Break" the 1st day they opened booking (yes...I was watching like a hawk). I have absolutely no idea why, but it was dirt cheap (half off today's price)

Nope, wanted to pay cash.

Just checked again, they have opened inventory now and rooms can be booked from 1 December.

Has anyone stayed here yet? I have a C+P room booked for next weekend so I will be able to give a review after that.

I would be interested in whether there is a shuttle bus to and from the airport too.

I didn't appreciate it was linked to the terminal when driving past it but it has been nearly 12 months now.

Presumably then you need to take the train from T1?

It's not in T3, but linked by walkway. You take the monorail from T1.

Meh, close enough. The website actually lists it's address as
Cairo International Airport,
Terminal 3
I guess that's the walkway in the picture.

Le Méridien Cairo Airport

Just completed a short 1-night stay here.
When passing customs control in T3, turn left in the arrival hall and just follow the signs for "Le Meridien". Via lift or escalator you reach the air-conditioned walkway connecting the terminal and the hotel. You pass security check and take the elevator (you are on level 3) down to ground level where the lobby is.
Hotel is really beautiful, with friendly staff. I was upgraded to a suite on level 5 which is the club level. Suite was beautiful, lots of space with a nice bathroom.
Club lounge is on level 5, not a very big lounge but comfortable. Snacks in the evening were really delicious.
