Crossover Rewards with SPG and the Delta SkyMiles program
One year ago SPG announced new benefits to the program to provide richer rewards to our elite members. Well, the good news is we’re not done. Today we are excited to officially announce our exclusive new partnership with the Delta SkyMiles program that will bring even more rewards to our best members.
Launching on March 1, 2013, Crossover Rewards™ is an industry-first benefit that gives SPG elite members and Delta Medallion members worldwide the ability to earn more rewards when they stay with Starwood and fly with Delta. Here are the highlights:
When staying with Starwood:
• Delta Medallion members will earn 1 mile for every dollar spent on eligible room revenue. This is in addition to the Starpoints you normally earn for your eligible stays.
• Plus, Delta Diamond and Platinum Medallion members will earn additional stay benefits, such as free in-room internet, 4 pm late check-out, access to the priority elite check-in line, and more.
When flying with Delta:
• SPG Platinum and Gold elite members earn 1 Starpoint for every dollar spent on eligible Delta flights. This is in addition to the miles you would normally earn for your Delta flights.
• Plus, SPG Platinum members enjoy elite benefits when traveling with Delta, such as priority check-in, Priority Boarding and first checked bag free.
Why Delta? It’s simple. They are one of the world’s largest airlines, flying to over 310 destinations in 59 countries- which is a great fit for our road warrior SPG members.
Members must register and link their SPG and Delta SkyMiles accounts to take advantage of Crossover Rewards. Any active SPG member may register and your Crossover Rewards benefits will kick-in as soon as you become SPG elite or Delta Medallion.
SPG has an information page up now at spg.com/crossoverrewards which includes a full set of FAQ’s, and registration will start on March 1st. And as always, the Starwood Social Media Team is here to answer any questions you may have.

A detail that had earlier leaked out was DAY OF TRAVEL UPGRADES on DL. That component appears to be missing in the T&Cs of this announcement today.
No biggie, just pointing it out.

SkyTeam?
Do the benefits extend to Delta's SkyTeam partners or not?

If I am a SPG Platinum but non medallion at DL (just regular skymiles member) and stay at a SPG hotel, would I also get DL Skymiles in addition to my starpoints? Or do I have to be a DL Medallion to get Skymiles AND Starpoints for my hotel stay?

Will this apply to previously booked flights flown after 3/1? I have a paid business class ticket for over $4,000 this summer and the SPG points would be great.

I'm curious about that as well. Upgrades (even if at the lowely silver level) would probably be the biggest incentive to get me to consider driving my travel to DL.

Flights that are eligible for Crossover Rewards benefits are those that are Delta operated and marketed. Flights operated by a SkyTeam, Delta codeshare or other alliance partner carrier are not eligible for Crossover Rewards. Please see our Crossover Rewards FAQ’s at spg.com/crossoverrewards for more details about Crossover Rewards benefits.

The Rewards page has been down for over an hour now and that's why I asked on FT.

If you are registered with SPG Crossover Rewards and you are SPG Platinum elite you have the ability to earn 1 Starpoint for every dollar spent on eligible Delta flights - plus the additional benefits when traveling with Delta.
In order to earn miles with Crossover Rewards you need to be a Delta Medallion member (Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond).

Unfortunately, nothing truly beneficial here for SPG Gold to offset what is being taken away by the promotion.
The Delta elite flyers will now diminish/dilute our room upgrade chances at check in, and in return, on the off chance we actually fly Delta airlines, we will get 1 point on ticket purchases...you know, the same thing we can already get with the SPG Amex card.
There is no benefit to enhance the experience of an SPG Gold actually flying Delta, like a free bag or priority boarding, so why in the heck would we choose to buy tickets on Delta as opposed to another airline where we might have elite status/benefits? 1 point per dollar isn't worth paying baggage fees or being crammed in a regular economy seat.
Come on, Starwood, I know you value us SPG Gold members more than this!
