As a diamond with Hilton and Delta I love this program.

It's nice having a fallback for free wifi when a Hilton isn't available in the area. And SPG has gotten a couple stays due to the guaranteed 4 p.m. check out.

Upgrades with SPG have been great as well. I have received a couple nice suite upgrades

Any feedback on how the system has been working in recognizing the SPG Plat membership ( if you are not Medallion ) on the first free checked bag? I would imagine if you are using an agent you can at least bring it up when at the counter if they are charging you...........what about if you are using on line check in or a kiosk - does the system automatically drop the fee when using these or has it become a hassle? Just curious as I have always flown UA from Canada and have just booked 4 different flights with Delta for the first time coming up. Hopefully it is a good experience as I will use them moving forward with these little perks - - - as long as the perks are there and it does not become more of an inconvenience. I am actually looking forward to the change as UA has simply become awful! I don't have too many choices out of YWG.

I registered with the crossover program as spg platinum member and non-elite delta member when this program came out. On July 14th I became a Delta SM member. My first SPG stay after becoming Delta SM ended on July 28th. I have yet to receive miles for this stay on my Delta account. How long does this normally take and do I have to contact someone to get the miles?

Hi luna6,

It can take between 4-6 weeks for Delta SkyMiles to post after the eligible stay posted to your SPG account.

My first batch of miles posted on Delta for SPG hotel stays. Pretty neat.

Certainly neater than running around with a large bag filled with credit and gift cards trying to manufacture points and miles.

Kudos to Starwood and Delta for giving extra recognition to their real customers.

Cannot comment on the free checked bag (as I only do carry-on), but Zone 1 boarding and ability to get 'preferred' seats has been a great benefit on those occasions I find myself on DL.

Note that they post with a date included on the line. This makes it easy to track down any missing credit and you can see which points are associated with which travel pretty readily.

On the flip side - how long should it take for SPG points to post for a qualifying Delta flight?

I found this:

How soon are Starpoints I earn from an eligible Delta flight deposited into my SPG Member account?

If you are registered for Crossover Rewards and are an SPG Platinum or Gold elite member, Starpoints that you earn for eligible Delta flights will post to your SPG Member account for each segment within 4 to 6 weeks after the segment of the eligible Delta flight is completed.

In the FAQ here. Does that help?

In my experience, in practice, the SPG points post roughly 10-20 days after the Delta points post, and usually on a Tuesday (or sometimes Wednesday).

Only have 1 point of reference so far, but my flight on May 26 posted on June 17 to SPG.

Note that they post with a date included on the line. This makes it easy to track down any missing credit and you can see which points are associated with which travel pretty readily.
Thanks MSPeconomist. Never noticed that until I read your post.

Couple months ago, I had a Starpoints stay at the Le Meridien San Francisco as a Gold SPG Member. I'm a Platinum Medallion on DL. I inquired about the complimentary WiFi as part of Crossover Rewards and the lady looked at me like I was crazy. Long story short, she wasn't giving in on it, and I was tired after a transcon, so I gave in with her and sent a tweet to @SPGAssist (acknowledged). Couple hours later I get a page from the front desk and a WiFi pass. The next day I get another page to reception and someone had wrote a note saying "Complimentary WiFi is not available as part of Crossover Rewards on a Starpoints stay." I'm thinking someone was covering their booty. Could be wrong—can anyone confirm?

The free Internet benefit for Delta Plat & Diamond seems to be very little-known. I have stayed at multiple hotels since being eligible for a benefit and no hotel has ever seemed to know about it, and I've usually given up the 250 point Gold amenity rather than try to educate them.

But, I was surprised when checking in at the Westin SFO today that the agent proactively told me that I would get free Internet from Crossover Rewards, and that I would also get the 250 points. Which suggests that Starwood's systems do indeed convey the information to the hotels, which I'd previously had no evidence to think was the case.
