Thumbs up Great upgrades

Property: Four Points by Sheraton Barcelona Diagonal
Date(s): October 2-5
Room booked: Classic 2-Twin Room
Room received: Comfort King Room
Award stay: no
BRG stay: no
SNAs redeemed: no
Comments: I know this is a Four Points, and one that doesn't even offer Suites. HOWEVER, they did a good job of getting us the largest room on the top floor with a view of La Sagrada Familia. I had a friend who stayed in a standard room which was noticeably smaller, with a view of just the street below.

Property: Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers
Date(s): October 6-9
Room booked: Deluxe Room
Room received: Harbor View Deluxe
Award stay: C&P
BRG stay: no
SNAs redeemed: no
Comments: Great room overlooking the harbor and Hong Kong. Lower floor, but still a great view to watch the light show. Plat lounge was perfectly good, and the staff was very helpful in letting us know how to best navigate HK during the protests.

Property: The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali
Date(s): October 9-12
Room booked: Deluxe Garden View, 2 Double Beds
Room received: Ocean View Suite, King Bed
Award stay: no
BRG stay: no
SNAs redeemed: no
Comments: Ocean View as described, directly above the Suite with its own private pool (that family didn't ever use the pool!). Huge room, long walk from the main entrance, but great location in the hotel. Basically between the Pool and the Beach.

All in all, Platinum upgrades really worked well for my wife and I on our RTW trip. Thanks everyone here for the tips too (ie not using SNA's since the Plat upgrades at these hotels tend to be better anyways).

St Regis Monarch Beach
3 separate stays this year
Used points
Suite upgrades applied
All have failed

I've had great success with my 20 suite nights this year on paid booking with the exception of Moana Surfrider. However St. Regis which I use points for every year with the wife never gets me upgraded.

This is a class operation. I stayed here earlier in the year, and they were easily the best Four Points property I've ever stayed at.

Room booked: Superior
Room Received: Jr. Suite
Award stay: Yes, C+P
BRG Stay: No
SNA's redeemed: Yes

Comments: Used my last remaining SNA's to the booking, and got "only" jr. suite. Room was however nice and quiet and also quite large. Likewise the property itself. Buffet breakfast at le ciel restaurant on 9th floor as a platinum amenity was good enough and the spa was nice too. Location quite handy for a weekend getaway to travel around city.

Comments: I wasn't expecting much but was delighted with my 3 category upgrade for a single night. They even comp'd my room service breakfast because I was a return guest--well beyond the Plat benefit.

Property: Westin Palace Milan
Date(s): 6 nights in December
Room booked: Standard King
Room received: Grand Deluxe King
Award stay: no
BRG stay: no
SNAs redeemed: no
Comments: I used the preferences option for the highest floor and got a nice room but not a suite on the 11th floor; the high floor was nice but next time I'll take a larger room (often on the 8th floor)

Property: Westin Vendome Paris
Date(s): One night in December
Room booked: Standard King
Room received: Junior Suite
Award stay: yes, cash and points
BRG stay: no
SNAs redeemed: yes
Comments: Got in at 3:30 and "my" room was not ready so I got this room instead; lovely suite with a guest bath and jacuzzi but unfortunately too much aroma and somehow my name was never associated with the room so I eventually had to get a tech to come up and give me a code to get wifi.

Property: Sheraton Malpensa
Date(s): One night in December
Room booked: Standard King
Room received: Junior Suite
Award stay: yes, C+P
BRG stay: no
SNAs redeemed: no
Comments: A room I know quite well by now (my Ipad remembered the room number); a huge space but also too much aroma in the room and cheesy Sheraton towels and not such a nice spread at breakfast buffet.

Have you ever been upgraded to the Wow Suite? I grabbed the Fantastic Suite for my upcoming stay and am just wondering if they actually upgrade above that.

I have not been upgraded to a Wow suite as of yet. I'd add that the Marvelous Suites are the category up from a Fantastic suite - I believe they have balconies. Then come the Wow/ E-Wow in the suite hierarchy.
