Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa - Dubai [Master Thread]

I would like to hear some feedback or general opinion from members of this forum on this property. It has a really great reputation on tripadvisor, based on more then 2200 review. I am impressed. Even if I know how review on tripadvisor can be sometimes misleading, this time there is such a great consensus (quantitatively and qualitatively) that I'm curious to hear more....

Thanks.

P.S. for moderators: I have not found a master or generic thread for this property, but in case just move this there.

Edit: I wanted to indicate the Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa but I cannot modify anymore the title...maybe the moderators can?!

I was there only yesterday. I was staying at the Grosvenor House and used the Royal Meridien Beach. They have a bunch of pools and the beach is great, lots of chairs and umbrellas for everybody, I don't think it will ever be full, service was great as well.

Thanks Loreto....me too I usually stay at GH (very good breakfast and large room) but I would like to give Le Royal meridien a try given the great reviews. Looking at the hotel with the satellite it really seems it has a nice grounds all around.
By any chance did you try any pools and noted if they are heated?

That's great news, hopefully one of the lurkers can give the official word as well.

In regards to the pool, I tried two of them, well they are not heated but they are in an ok temp. They also give water sprays.

I can't couldnt count the number of pools but it's either 3 or 4.

Interesting, I wonder if the other Starwood hotels in Dubai that don't participate will start. (From what I understand they are all owned by the same group?)

Confirmed SPG participation

I am on property right now and yes, it is confirmed
They will participate in SPG programme starting
January 2013.

On a separate note, I must say I am impressed by
the quality this resort provide in all senses: grounds
are really nice and service is excellent..I'll
give more details when back home.

GREAT NEWS! I frequent Dubai and having this property means that potentially all the other le meridiens will now participate as well. Keeping my fingers crossed that that they will participate, but if not I'll accept this addition on it's own. The GH is my go to property as it is for many.

Any word what category they will participate as?

Indeed a great addition. Me too, when travelling for business,
i select GH in Dubai as spg property. I understand they are actually
sister property in fact GH guests are enjoying, as Loreto said, facilities
at LRM.
This is a great property! Nice grounds, nice restaurant options
with good food, great beach, large rooms....and especially faboulous
service. They even have butler service (st regis kind).
Great massage at spa....as said before, I am honestly impressed
and will definitively be back.
I am expecting some words back from management as for category
participation...as soon as they'll say something I'll let you know.

Awesome thanks for the info. Look forward to the category. I would guess cat 5, hoping for cat 4. If cat 6 I will not partake as the GH as a cat 5 I don't think can be beaten.

Still says no SPG participation on the hotel's website. Will wait for the official word from the lurkers.

It looks like this is an SPG/Starwood issue rather than a property issue. On their individual website (rather than the SPG property website), it shows they are an SPG Category 6 property.

http://www.leroyalmeridien-dubai.com/

SPG Category 6. 20,000 to 25,000 Starpoints for a free night (depending on the season).

Of course, since bookings from there link back to the SPG website, you cannot book with points or c&p.
